Toward Male Individualization with Rapidly Mutating Y‐Chromosomal Short Tandem Repeats

Kaye N. Ballantyne, +127 more
- 01 Aug 2014 -
TL;DR: The value of RM Y‐STRs in identifying and separating unrelated and related males and providing a reference database is demonstrated and the value of Y‐ STRs relative to Yfiler is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparing six commercial autosomal STR kits in a large Dutch population sample.

TL;DR: The genotyping results of 2085 Dutch male samples were compared for six autosomal STR kits and 24 samples showing the same primer binding site mutation at the Amelogenin locus were subjected to X-STR analysis in order to assess whether they could share a common origin, which appeared not to be the case.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of 36 Y-STR marker units including a concordance study among 2085 Dutch males

TL;DR: The genotypes of 36 Y-chromosomal short tandem repeat (Y-STR) marker units were analysed in a Dutch population sample of 2085 males and encountered concordant, but aberrant genotyping results including one allele with low peak height and several null alleles.

Forensic Population Genetics - Original Research Analysis of 36 Y-STR marker units including a concordance study among 2085 Dutch males

TL;DR: In this paper, the genotypes of 36 Y-chromosomal short tandem repeat (Y-STR) marker units were analyzed in a Dutch population sample of 2085 males, and profiling results were compared for several partially overlapping kits, i.e. PowerPlex Y, Yfiler, Powerplex Y23 and two in-house designed multiplexes with rapidly mutating Y-STRs.
