Journal ArticleDOI

Mapping human genetic diversity in Asia

Mahmood Ameen Abdulla, +94 more
- 11 Dec 2009 -
TL;DR: The results suggest that there may have been a single major migration of people into Asia and a subsequent south-to-north migration across the continent, and that genetic ancestry is strongly correlated with linguistic affiliations as well as geography.
Journal ArticleDOI

A global analysis of Y-chromosomal haplotype diversity for 23 STR loci

Josephine Purps, +163 more
TL;DR: A strong correlation was observed between the number of Y-STRs included in a marker set and some of the forensic parameters under study, and a weak but consistent trend toward smaller genetic distances resulting from larger numbers of markers became apparent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toward Male Individualization with Rapidly Mutating Y‐Chromosomal Short Tandem Repeats

Kaye N. Ballantyne, +127 more
- 01 Aug 2014 -
TL;DR: The value of RM Y‐STRs in identifying and separating unrelated and related males and providing a reference database is demonstrated and the value of Y‐ STRs relative to Yfiler is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Philippine Mitochondrial DNA Diversity: A Populated Viaduct between Taiwan and Indonesia?

TL;DR: Analysis of hypervariable segment I sequence variation within individual mtDNA haplogroups indicates a general decrease in the diversity of the most frequent types from the Taiwanese aborigines to the Philippines and Sulawesi, although calculated standard error measures overlap for these populations.
