The Molecular Taxonomy of Primary Prostate Cancer

Adam Abeshouse, +309 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive molecular analysis of 333 primary prostate carcinomas revealed a molecular taxonomy in which 74% of these tumors fell into one of seven subtypes defined by specific gene fusions (ERG, ETV1/4, and FLI1) or mutations (SPOP, FOXA1, and IDH1).
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic kidney disease after nephrectomy in patients with renal cortical tumours: a retrospective cohort study.

TL;DR: Radical nephrectomy is a significant risk factor for the development of chronic kidney disease and might no longer be regarded as the gold standard treatment for small, renal cortical tumours.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of digital rectal examination and serum prostate specific antigen in the early detection of prostate cancer: results of a multicenter clinical trial of 6,630 men.

TL;DR: In this paper, a prospective clinical trial at 6 university centers of 6,630 male volunteers 50 years old or older who underwent PSA determination (Hybritech Tandom-E or Tandem-R assays) and digital rectal examination was conducted.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reciprocal Feedback Regulation of PI3K and Androgen Receptor Signaling in PTEN-Deficient Prostate Cancer

TL;DR: Combined pharmacologic inhibition of PI3K and AR signaling caused near-complete prostate cancer regressions in a Pten-deficient murine prostate cancer model and in human prostate cancer xenografts, indicating that both pathways coordinately support survival.
