Journal ArticleDOI
Human selenoprotein P and S variant mRNAs with different numbers of SECIS elements and inferences from mutant mice of the roles of multiple SECIS elements.
Sen Wu,Marco Mariotti,Didac Santesmasses,Kristina E. Hill,Janinah Baclaocos,Estel Aparicio-Prat,Shuping Li,John J. Mackrill,Yuanyuan Wu,Michael T. Howard,Mario R. Capecchi,Roderic Guigó,Raymond F. Burk,John F. Atkins +13 more
TL;DR: Two selenoprotein S mRNAs with different 5′ sequences predicted to yield products with different N-termini are bioinformatically identified and provide insights into SECIS function and mRNA processing in seenoprotein isoform diversity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Automatic evaluation of protein sequence functional patterns
TL;DR: An experimental implementation of a procedure that automatically provides an evaluation of the diagnostic ability of a protein sequence functional pattern reveals that frequently it is not possible to define the set of database instances containing a given pattern, suggesting either lack of pattern diagnostic ability or protein database annotation incompleteness and/or inconsistencies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eccb/jbi 2005
TL;DR: This year's ECCB/JBI 2005 wanted to stress the biological relevance of the methods developed and their applications, and in contrast with previous editions, short papers have been published in this Bioinformatics special issue in a format that resembles Application Notes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of the transcribed ultraconserved region 70 and the related long non-coding RNA AC092652.2-202 has prognostic value in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia.
Riccardo Bomben,Alejandro Roisman,Tiziana D'Agaro,Giancarlo Castellano,Tycho Baumann,Julio Delgado,Armando López-Guillermo,Antonella Zucchetto,Michele Dal-Bo,Vanessa Bravin,Irma Slavutsky,Anna Vlasova,Roderic Guigó,José I. Martín-Subero,Vicente Chapaprieta,Renée Beekman,David Martín-García,Sílvia Beà,Itziar Salaverria,Marta Aymerich,Elias Campo,Valter Gattei,Luis Hernández +22 more
TL;DR: This book aims to provide a history of haematology in Scotland from 1989 to 2002, a period chosen in order to explore its roots as well as specific cases up to and including the year of World War Two.
Journal ArticleDOI
gff2aplot: Plotting sequence comparisons
TL;DR: The gff2aplot program serves to generate print-quality images for comparative genome sequence analysis and is highly customizable to meet user specific needs.
