Ultrahigh-energy photons up to 1.4 petaelectronvolts from 12 γ-ray Galactic sources

Zhengguo Cao, +264 more
- 17 May 2021 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the detection of more than 530 photons at energies above 100 teraelectronvolts and up to 1.4 PeV from 12 sources in the Galaxy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Are protons still dominant at the knee of the cosmic-ray energy spectrum?

TL;DR: In this article, a hybrid experiment consisting of emulsion chambers, burst detectors and the Tibet-II air-shower array was carried out at Yangbajing (4300 m a.s.l., 606 g / cm 2 ) in Tibet to obtain the energy spectra of primary protons and heliums.

First Detection of sub-PeV Diffuse Gamma Rays from the Galactic Disk: Evidence for Ubiquitous Galactic Cosmic Rays beyond PeV Energies.

M. Amenomori, +100 more
TL;DR: For the first time, the long-awaited detection of diffuse gamma rays with energies between 100 TeV and 1 PeV in the Galactic disk was reported in this paper, which is consistent with expectations from the hadronic emission scenario in which gamma rays originate from the decay of π 0's produced through the interaction of protons with the interstellar medium.
