An object is to provide a semiconductor device of which a manufacturing process is not complicated and by which cost can be suppressed, by forming a thin film transistor using an oxide semiconductor film typified by zinc oxide, and a manufacturing method thereof. For the semiconductor device, a gate electrode is formed over a substrate; a gate insulating film is formed covering the gate electrode; an oxide semiconductor film is formed over the gate insulating film; and a first conductive film and a second conductive film are formed over the oxide semiconductor film. The oxide semiconductor film has at least a crystallized region in a channel region.

Semiconductor device, and manufacturing method thereof

Zinc-ion batteries built on water-based electrolytes featuring compelling price-points, competitive performance, and enhanced safety represent advanced energy storage chemistry as a promising alternative to current lithium-ion battery systems. Attempts to develop rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) can be traced to as early as the 1980s; however, since 2015, the research activity in this field has surged throughout the world. Despite the achievements made in exploring electrode materials so far, significant challenges remain at the material level and even on the whole aqueous ZIBs system, leading to the failure of ZIBs to meet commercial requirements. This review aims to discuss how to pave the way for developing aqueous ZIBs. The current research efforts related to aqueous ZIBs electrode materials and electrolytes are summarized, including an analysis of the problems encountered in both cathode/anode materials and electrolyte optimization. Some concerns and feasible solutions for achieving practical aqueous ZIBs are discussed in detail. We would like to point out that merely improving the electrode materials is not enough; synergistic optimization strategies toward the whole battery system are also deeply needed. Finally, some perspectives are provided on the subsequent optimization design for further research efforts in the aqueous ZIB field.

Issues and opportunities facing aqueous zinc-ion batteries

The effect of inter-electrode coupling on color crosstalk (CCT) of TFT-LCD with high transmittance pixel design is investigated systematically. Theoretical analysis shown that the increased asymmetric capacitive coupling effect between data and pixel electrode signals is the main reason for CCT of the high transmittance panels. If applying some traditional strategies to improve CCT under the line-inversion driving scheme, the effectiveness is very limited and there is a loss of transmittance. When using the proposed sup-flip driving scheme, good image quality with weak CCT can be obtained in the color images. This is mainly ascribed to the dot inversion driving mode of pixel signals, which greatly weakens the coupling effect caused by the change of data signals and balances the brightness difference between adjacent pixels. These results demonstrate that applying the proposed super flip driving scheme is an effective way to modulate the CCT defect and enhance the display performance for TFT-LCDs with high transmittance design.

Investigation on Improving Color Crosstalk for High-Transmittance TFT-LCDs

The sputter-deposited Cu thin film, coated with a thinner gold layer, was prepared into the butterfly pattern with alternating zones beween Cu thin film and Si. The eutectic SnPb solder balls with different sizes were reflowed on the butterfly pattern. As a result, the liquid solder would be selectively retained on the Au/Cu film zones. At the same time, under the energy minimization control, the liquid solder would dewet from the unwettable Si zones. Especially, for a fixed size pattern, the different reactive wetting and dewetting behavior would happen with the solder ball size changing.

Reactive wetting and dewetting of liquid SnPb solder on the butterfly pattern

The influence mechanisms of horizontal crosstalk for 65-inch SK vertical alignment liquid crystal displays (VALCD), which has an amorphous silicon (AS) layer deposited under the data line and is driven by a vertical-line-inversion method, are investigated theoretically and experimentally. Results shown that the secondary coupling effect of data signal on the common signal through the storage electrode, which is caused by the capacitance variation of the AS layer in different electric field directions, is the main reason of horizontal line crosstalk. Moreover, some strategies for improving horizontal line crosstalk from the aspects of layout design optimization, driver model and compensation circuit development are experimentally verified and discussed. This research can provide efficient guidelines for the design of high-resolution LCD display with less crosstalk.

A compact gate driver with bifunctional capacitor for in-cell touch mobile display

We proposed and fabricated amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide thin-film transistors (IGZO TFTs) employing a novel organic-passivation layer (1-Methoxy-2-Propanol positive resist). The 1-Methoxy-2-Propanol passivated TFTs exhibit almost non-degraded electrical properties with carrier mobility, subthreshold swing of 5.9 cm2/Vs, 0.38 V/dec, respectively compared to the unpassivated TFTs. Besides, the Vth shift of 1-Methoxy-2-Propanol passivated TFTs under negative bias stress (NBS) is remarkably reduced compared to the unpassivated TFTs and the hump effect disappears. What is more, the passivation layer was fabricated at low temperature. Therefore, it is a promising candidate for advanced flexible displays.
