Khaw,Christopher J Hammond,David A. Mackey,David A. Mackey,Paul Mitchell,Andrew J. Lotery,Janey L. Wiggs,Alex W. Hewitt,Stuart MacGregor +63 more
TL;DR: This glaucoma PRS will facilitate the development of a personalized approach for earlier treatment of high-risk individuals, with less intensive monitoring and treatment being possible for lower-risk groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mackey,Puya Gharahkhani,Jamie E Craig,Alex W. Hewitt,Alex W. Hewitt +37 more
TL;DR: A combined analysis of participants from the UK Biobank and the International Glaucoma Genetic Consortium identifies 85 new loci for intraocular pressure (IOP), and pathway analysis uncovers new pathways associated with both IOP and glAUcoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surgical detachment of Descemet's membrane and endothelium imaged over time by in vivo confocal microscopy.
TL;DR: A 90-year-old woman developed a large circular capsulorhexis-like defect in Descemet's membrane as a complication of small incision cataract surgery, and microstructural changes in the cornea can be described and analysed over time with the assistance of in vivo confocal microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis combining correlated glaucoma traits identifies five new risk loci for open-angle glaucoma
Puya Gharahkhani,Kathryn P. Burdon,Jessica N. Cooke Bailey,Alex W. Hewitt,Matthew Law,Louis R. Pasquale,Jae H. Kang,Jonathan L. Haines,Emmanuelle Souzeau,Tiger Zhou,Owen M. TL;DR: This study is the first integrative study to combine genetic data from OAG and its correlated traits to identify new risk variants and genetic pathways, highlighting the future potential of combining geneticData from genetically-correlated eye traits for the purpose of gene discovery and mapping.
Journal ArticleDOI
Myocilin Gene Gln368Ter Variant Penetrance and Association With Glaucoma in Population-Based and Registry-Based Studies
Xikun Han,Xikun Han,Emmanuelle Souzeau,Jue-Sheng Ong,Jue-Sheng Ong,Jiyuan An,Owen M. Siggs,Kathryn P. Burdon,Kathryn P. Burdon,Stephen Best,Ivan Goldberg,Paul R. Healey,Stuart L. Graham,Stuart L. Hewitt,Puya Gharahkhani,Jamie E Craig,Stuart MacGregor +27 more
TL;DR: The MYOC p.Gln368Ter variant confers a very high-risk effect size for advanced glaucoma; the risk is lower in nonadvanced glAUcoma and OHT, with higher prevalence in the Australian registry studies.
