Journal ArticleDOI
Outcome and Symptomatic Bleeding Complications of Intravenous Thrombolysis Within 6 Hours in MRI-Selected Stroke Patients Comparison of a German Multicenter Study With the Pooled Data of ATLANTIS, ECASS, and NINDS tPA Trials
Götz Thomalla,Christian Schwark,Jan Sobesky,Erich Bluhmki,Jochen B. Fiebach,Jens Fiehler,Olivier Zaro Weber,Thomas Kucinski,Eric Juettler,Peter A. Ringleb,Hermann Zeumer,Cornelius Weiller,Werner Hacke,Peter D. Schellinger,Joachim Röther +14 more
TL;DR: This study supports that it is safe and effective to expand the time window for IV-tPA up to 6 hours in patients with tissue at risk as defined by MRI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effectiveness and Safety of Transcranial Laser Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke
Justin A. Zivin,Gregory W. Albers,Natan M. Bornstein,Thomas Chippendale,Björn Dahlöf,Thomas Devlin,Marc Fisher,Werner Hacke,William Holt,Sanja Ilic,Scott E. Kasner,Robert A. Lew,Marshall Nash,Julio Perez,Marilyn M. Rymer,Peter D. Schellinger,Dietmar Schneider,Stefan Schwab,Roland Veltkamp,Michael G. Walker,Jackson Streeter +20 more
TL;DR: TLT within 24 hours from stroke onset demonstrated safety but did not meet formal statistical significance for efficacy, however, all predefined analyses showed a favorable trend, consistent with the previous clinical trial (NEST-1).
Journal ArticleDOI
Deep brain stimulation for the treatment of Parkinson's disease: subthalamic nucleus versus globus pallidus internus
Martin Krause,Wolfgang Fogel,A. Heck,Werner Hacke,M. Bonsanto,C Trenkwalder,Volker M. Tronnier +6 more
TL;DR: Stimulation of the GPi reduces medication side effects, which leads to a better drug tolerance, and the STN is the target of choice for treating patients with severe Parkinson's disease who have side effects from drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Hypertonic Saline Hydroxyethyl Starch Solution and Mannitol in Patients With Increased Intracranial Pressure After Stroke
TL;DR: HS-HES seems to lower ICP more effectively but does not increase CPP as much as does mannitol, and the maximum effect occurs after the end of infusion and is visible over 4 hours.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrastructural connective tissue abnormalities in patients with spontaneous cervicocerebral artery dissections
Tobias Brandt,Ingrid Hausser,Erdem Orberk,Armin J. Grau,Wolfgang Hartschuh,Ingrun Anton-Lamprecht,Werner Hacke +6 more
TL;DR: Observations indicate a correlation of cervical artery dissections with connective tissue abnormalities and a structural abnormality in the extracellular matrix potentially caused by basic molecular defects is suggested and warrants further exploration.
