TL;DR: Silent infarcts, white matter intensities, and classical risk factors were highly prevalent, emphasizing the need for new early preventive strategies.
Journal Article
Local Intraarterial Thrombolysis in Vertebrobasilar Thromboembolic Disease
TL;DR: A new therapeutic approach involves selective perfusion of streptokinase through the vertebrobasilar artery via a coaxial catheter system, which demonstrated successful vascular recanalization with clinical improvement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of CT Angiography in Patient Selection for Thrombolytic Therapy in Acute Hemispheric Stroke
TL;DR: CTA can provide important information for the initiation of therapy in patients with acute hemispheric ischemia and identification of patients with autolyzed thrombi, occlusion of the internal carotid artery bifurcation, and poor leptomeningeal collaterals is feasible with the use of CTA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does Arterial Recanalization Improve Outcome in Carotid Territory Stroke
TL;DR: Even if delayed, arterial recanalization may improve clinical outcome in a subgroup of patients with middle cerebral artery occlusion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stroke-Related Early Tracheostomy Versus Prolonged Orotracheal Intubation in Neurocritical Care Trial (SETPOINT) A Randomized Pilot Trial
Julian Bösel,Petra Schiller,Yvonne Hook,Michaela Andes,Jan-Oliver Neumann,Sven Poli,Hemasse Amiri,Silvia Schönenberger,Zhongying Peng,Andreas Unterberg,Werner Hacke,Thorsten Steiner +11 more
TL;DR: Early tracheostomy in ventilated intensive care stroke patients is feasible, and safe, and presumably reduces sedation need, and whether the suggested benefits in mortality and outcome truly exist has to be determined by a larger multicenter trial.
