Efficacy and Safety of Rivaroxaban Compared With Warfarin Among Elderly Patients With Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation in the Rivaroxaban Once Daily, Oral, Direct Factor Xa Inhibition Compared With Vitamin K Antagonism for Prevention of Stroke and Embolism Trial in Atrial Fibrillation (ROCKET AF)
Jonathan L. Halperin,Graeme J. Hankey,Daniel Wojdyla,Jonathan P. Piccini,Yuliya Lokhnygina,Manesh R. Patel,Günter Breithardt,Daniel E. Singer,Richard C. Becker,Werner Hacke,John F. Paolini,Christopher C. Nessel,Kenneth W. Mahaffey,Robert M. Califf,Keith A.A. Fox +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the effect of Rivaroxaban (20 mg/day vs. warfarin (2.0-3.0%) and Vitamin K (vitamin K)-antagonism for prevention of stroke and systemic embolism by intention to treat.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging-based decision making in thrombolytic therapy for ischemic stroke: present status.
TL;DR: Information about the presence or absence of a vessel occlusion, whether by means of DU, CTA, or MRA, is essential before recombinant tissue plasminogen activator is given in the 3- to 6-hour time window.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Patients with ischaemic stroke 4·5-9 h from stroke onset or wake-up stroke with salvageable brain tissue who were treated with alteplase achieved better functional outcomes than did patients given placebo, and this increase in the rate of symptomatic intracerebral haemorrhage did not negate the overall net benefit of thrombolysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leukocyte Count as an Independent Predictor of Recurrent Ischemic Events
Armin J. Grau,Alexander Boddy,Deborah Dukovic,Florian Buggle,Christoph Lichy,Tobias Brandt,Werner Hacke +6 more
TL;DR: Leukocyte counts and mainly neutrophil counts are independently associated with ischemic events in these high-risk populations, and an increase of leukocytes over baseline levels heralds a period of increased risk lasting about one week.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Standardized MRI Stroke Protocol: Comparison with CT in Hyperacute Intracerebral Hemorrhage
TL;DR: In this paper, the diagnostic accuracy of a standardized, multimodal MRI (mMRI) stroke protocol in the qualitative and quantitative assessment of hyperacute ICH (<6 hours was evaluated.
