TL;DR: A modified fuzzy least squares regression analysis is proposed for fuzzy linear regression analysis when independent variables are crisp, the dependent variable is a fuzzy number and outliers are present in the data set.
Abstract: Since fuzzy linear regression was introduced by Tanaka et al., fuzzy regression analysis has been widely studied and applied in various areas. Diamond proposed the fuzzy least squares method to eliminate disadvantages in the Tanaka et al method. In this paper, we propose a modified fuzzy least squares regression analysis. When independent variables are crisp, the dependent variable is a fuzzy number and outliers are present in the data set. In the proposed method, the residuals are ranked as the comparison of fuzzy sets, and the weight matrix is defined by the membership function of the residuals. To illustrate how the proposed method is applied, two examples are discussed and compared in methods from the literature. Results from the numerical examples using the proposed method give good solutions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of dopant atoms on the electronic and optical properties of carbon nanotubes has been investigated by density functional theory (DFT) simulations, and the results suggest that a dopant atom has different effect on the pure CNT and it may have potential in designing new electronic devices.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated phosphorus removal from aqueous solution using carbonatisation cake, which is a sugar residue containing a significant amount of reactive calcium carbonate, and determined the chemical composition of the carbonatization cake and the organic contamination of carbonated cake and calcine in contact with water.
Abstract: This study investigated phosphorus removal from aqueous solutions using carbonatisation cake, which is a sugar residue containing a significant amount of reactive calcium carbonate. The chemical composition of the carbonatisation cake was determined, and the organic contamination of the carbonatisation cake and calcine in contact with water was determined. In addition, TGA, DTA, XRD, SEM-EDX, BET, FTIR, density, pHzpc and particle size distribution were analyzed for carbonatisation cake, product and post-phosphate removal calcined product. Batch experiments were performed to determine the effect of dose, phosphorus concentration, temperature and contact time on phosphorus removal from aqueous medium. Maximum phosphate adsorption capacity was found to be 65.16 mg g−1 at 25 °C, pH of 6 and adsorbent dosage of 1 g L−1 for a contact time of 180 min. Adsorption experiments were applied to adsorption isotherms. Kinetic, thermodynamic and mass transfer calculations were calculated. The results show that calcines produced by heating the carbonated cake to 600 °C, which is not cost-effective in sugar production, can be used effectively to remove phosphate from wastewaters.
