TL;DR: Cognitive and emotional tasks that reveal abnormal cooperation between the Central Executive Network and the Default Mode Network are described and it is suggested that depression is associated with increased social rejection sensitivity.
Abstract: Major depression is a multidimensional disorder producing emotional dysregulation, cognitive impairment, and neuro-vegetative symptoms. A pathophysiological model of depression needs to explain how these dimensions interact to produce specific clinical phenotypes and how these interactions may predict remission to specific treatments. It is unlikely that major depression results from discrete brain lesions. Here we propose to define major depression as a disorder of neural networks. We review evidence suggesting that the dynamics of neural networks involved in allocation of attention resources to the internal and external world contribute to cognitive impairment, increased self-focus, and dysfunctional saliency detection in depression. We describe cognitive and emotional tasks that reveal abnormal cooperation between the Central Executive Network and the Default Mode Network. Finally we suggest that depression is associated with increased social rejection sensitivity. Studies on social rejection will shed light on how attachment relates to impairment in allocation of attention resources to produce depressive symptoms such as rumination and cognitive problems.

TL;DR: How to identify time-critical patient groups and the sources of delay is described, resulting in the removal of specialist teams from the transfer decision-making process, changing the process from ‘refer and accept’ to ‘send and inform.’
Abstract: Where a ‘time-critical’ condition exists and care cannot be provided at the patient's current hospital, traditional ‘refer and accept’ pathways of care may delay immediate transfer. This paper desc...

Abstract: The bearing arrangement has an actuator-sensor unit (7), which has a module base body with an assigned piezo actuator (8). The amount of preload force (F-dms-t) determined by a force measuring unit (6) is transferred to a control module, by which an activation of the piezo actuator suitable to operating state of the spindle (1) in relation to path (s-t) and force (F-p-t) is triggered corresponding to the actual machine specific parameters for adjusting the preload between the bearings (4), and a specific adapted change of the spindle speed (n-soll-t) is triggered.

TL;DR: ACD begins to decrease during the preclinical phase in a group of individuals, who are of great interest and need to be further characterized, in a cohort of memory-complainers.
Abstract: Lack of awareness of cognitive decline (ACD) is common in late-stage Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Recent studies showed that ACD can also be reduced in the early stages. We described different trends of evolution of ACD over 3 years in a cohort of memory-complainers and their association to amyloid burden and brain metabolism. We studied the impact of ACD at baseline on cognitive scores’ evolution and the association between longitudinal changes in ACD and in cognitive score. 76.8% of subjects constantly had an accurate ACD (reference class). 18.95% showed a steadily heightened ACD and were comparable to those with accurate ACD in terms of demographic characteristics and AD biomarkers. 4.25% constantly showed low ACD, had significantly higher amyloid burden than the reference class, and were mostly men. We found no overall effect of baseline ACD on cognitive scores’ evolution and no association between longitudinal changes in ACD and in cognitive scores. ACD begins to decrease during the preclinical phase in a group of individuals, who are of great interest and need to be further characterized. The present study was conducted as part of the INSIGHT-PreAD study. The identification number of INSIGHT-PreAD study (ID-RCB) is 2012-A01731-42.
