TL;DR: An improved system for washing and coating metal can bodies, such as seamless aluminum and tin plate can bodies as mentioned in this paper, in a can processing line wherein various can washing, coating and curing stations are arranged in a unique fashion along the line so as to utilize generally compatible washing materials, the residues of which are adapted to be either recycled or discharged into a common waste disposal system, as well as an improved coated can body.
Abstract: An improved system for washing and coating metal can bodies, such as seamless aluminum and tin plate can bodies, in a can processing line wherein various can washing, coating and curing stations are arranged in a unique fashion along the line so as to utilize generally fully compatible washing and coating materials, the residues of which are adapted to be either recycled or discharged into a common waste disposal system, as well as an improved coated can body.

22 Feb 1971TL;DR: In this article, an off-gases containing organic sulfur components are contacted with an alumina base catalyst to convert these organic sulfate components to easily removable compounds such as CO2 and S. The catalysts employed comprise an aluminina base support in combination with at least one metal selected from strontium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, cadmium, barium and molybdenum employed as promoters.
Abstract: A process wherein industrial off-gases containing organic sulfur components are contacted with an alumina base catalyst to convert these organic sulfur components to easily removable compounds such as CO2 and S. The catalysts employed comprise an alumina base support in combination with at least one metal selected from strontium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, cadmium, barium and molybdenum employed as promoters. The catalysts have significantly increased service life due to the high resistance to sulfate poisoning.

Abstract: This paper shows how to choose observer parameters so that its estimation error is independent of arbitrary plant disturbances. Contrary to previous research the plant disturbances are not assumed to have any mathematical structure. Also presented are conditions under which an observer can reject plant disturbances and also have its eigenvalues arbitrarily assigned.

14 Jun 1996TL;DR: An automotive space frame joining system is described in this paper, which consists of a pair of extruded aluminum alloy lineal hollow rectangular members, each having a top end, a bottom end and two opposing sides, each opposing side including a plurality of substantially similar longitudinal grooves running from the bottom end towards the to end of the first lineal member.
Abstract: An automotive space frame joining system. The joining system includes a pair of extruded aluminum alloy lineal hollow rectangular members, the first lineal member having a top end, a bottom end and two opposing sides, each opposing side including a plurality of substantially similar longitudinal grooves running from the bottom end towards the to end of the first lineal member, the second lineal member having a top and a bottom longitudinal surface, the bottom end of the first lineal member abutting the top lineal surface of the second lineal member; and two pair of universal joining members, each joining member comprising a span and an interlocking member attached to the span, each pair fastened to opposing sides of the second lineal member and positioned such that each interlocking members of each joining member provides interlocking engagement within the opposing grooves of the first lineal member, thereby providing a space frame exhibiting great strength.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed the stress corrosion characteristics of Al-2.7%Cu 2.2%Li AA 2090 alloy with specific reference to results on smooth and precracked specimens exposed to laboratory (3 1/2% NaCl) and marine atmosphere environments.
Abstract: The stress corrosion (SC) characteristics of Al-2.7%Cu-2.2%Li AA 2090 alloy are reviewed with specific reference to results on smooth and precracked specimens exposed to laboratory (3 1/2% NaCl) and marine atmosphere environments. In the underaged condition, the alloy is susceptible to SC cracking in both the “easy path,” short-transverse direction and the more tortuous long-transverse orientation. Resistance improves significantly upon aging to near peak-strength conditions, with the long-transverse orientation being virtually immune. Underaged material is also susceptible to intergranular and intersubgranular corrosion; attack in the near peak-aged condition is of a pit fissuring nature. Attempts are made to reconcile smooth and precracked specimen results and to explain SC response to aging on the basis of microstructural features.
