TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed an improved method of melting metal, particularly reactive metals, such as aluminum, wherein heated molten metal is withdrawn from a first chamber and a portion of the withdrawn molten metal was transferred to a second chamber containing solid metal so as to melt same and recirculated to the first chamber to maintain melt homogenuity therein.
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved method of melting metal, particularly reactive metals, such as aluminum, wherein heated molten metal is withdrawn from a first chamber and a portion of the withdrawn molten metal is transferred to a second chamber containing solid metal so as to melt same and a portion of the withdrawn metal is recirculated to the first chamber so as to maintain melt homogenuity therein.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mixture of red mud particles, alumina trihydrate, oxalate salt, and polymeric polymeric, water-soluble cationic quaternary ammonium salt (POLYQUAT salt) was used to remove organic impurities from the Bayer process.
Abstract: Bayer process liquors derived from the digestion of bauxites with a caustic solution are purified by removing at least a portion of the organic impurities present in the liquors. Removal of these impurities is accomplished by treating liquor containing dispersed therein solids generated by the Bayer process or added thereto, such as red mud particles, alumina trihydrate, oxalate salt, or filter aid with an organic polymeric, water-soluble cationic quaternary ammonium salt (POLYQUAT salt) which due to its cationic nature will adhere to the surface of the dispersed solids. The organic coating or layer adhered to the solids provides a receptive surface for the organic impurities, thus allowing formation of a solid-Polyquat-organic Adduct which is easily removed from the Bayer system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for the feeding of finely divided particulate matter in a fluidized state from a source to a plurality of discharge points where discrete quantities of particulate material are discharged by suitable feeding devices.
Abstract: The invention relates to the feeding of finely divided particulate matter in a fluidized state from a source to a plurality of discharge points wherein discrete quantities of particulate matter are discharged by suitable feeding devices. In more detail, the invention comprises a primary air activated gravity conveyor and a plurality of secondary air activated gravity conveyors leading away from the primary conveyor to direct particulate matter to the feeding units associated with each secondary conveyor. The primary and secondary conveyors are maintained full of fluidized particulate matter at all times.

TL;DR: In this article, an improved magnesium source for the vacuum brazing of aluminum members, the source comprising a magnesium-containing member clad with a magnesium free aluminum alloy, was proposed.
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved magnesium source for the vacuum brazing of aluminum members, the source comprising a magnesium-containing member clad with a magnesium-free aluminum alloy. The cladding effectively prevents the premature vaporization of the magnesium during vacuum brazing operations and also prevents the formation of a complex magnesium-containing oxide film on the magnesium source.
