TL;DR: In this paper, the application of raw and modified carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and activated carbon (AC) for the removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) from aqueous solution was addressed.
Abstract: The present study addresses the application of raw and modified carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and activated carbon (AC) for the removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) from aqueous solution. Surfaces of both the adsorbents were modified by acid treatment. Nitric acid was used to remove impurities and to introduce carboxylic functional groups on the surfaces of CNTs and AC. Raw and modified adsorbents (CNTs and AC) were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. The influence of adsorbent dosage, contact time, agitation speed, and solution pH were evaluated on the Cr(VI) removal efficiency using batch adsorption experiments. The optimum pH for maximum adsorption of Cr(VI) was found to be 3 and 4 for AC and CNTs, respectively. Modified and raw AC were able to remove 99 and 92% of Cr(VI) ions, respectively, at 75 mg adsorbent dosage, agitation speed of 200 rpm, initial Cr(VI) concentration of 1 mg/L, contact time of 4 h, and ...

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the adoption of tele-banking in Saudi Arabia and found that customers increasingly extend their use of tele banking as their experience grows with the system.
Abstract: Currently, the banking industry is facing increasingly demanding customers and quickly eroding competitive edges. Recent technological breakthroughs in various areas, however, offer opportunities for the banks to excel in customer service quality and convenience. One area of major breakthroughs is the service delivery systems that are reshaping the banking business radically. However, there are relatively few empirical analyses of the impact of tele‐banking service technology on customers. Examines the adoption of tele‐banking in Saudi Arabia. The field findings reveal that customers increasingly extend their use of tele‐banking as their experience grows with the system. The results also indicate that in general Saudi consumers’ income levels and education play a vital role in their adoption and usage of tele‐banking technology.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a general overview of membrane fouling by minerals usually found in sea and inland water resources and discuss some important aspects of the phenomena itself: different mechanisms; concentration polarization; the major types of mineral scales including their prevalence and characteristics; and consequences of fouling on membrane performance.

TL;DR: In this article, polyamide branches grafted onto carbon microspheres (CMS) were successfully synthesized by interfacial polymerization of 1,3,5-trimesoyl chloride and 1, 3-phenylene diamine in situ with CMS.
Abstract: Polyamide branches grafted onto carbon microspheres (CMS) was successfully synthesized by interfacial polymerization of 1,3,5-trimesoyl chloride and 1,3-phenylene diamine in situ with CMS. The obtained CMS-polyamide was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analyzer, scanning electron microscopy and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The sorption efficiency of the CMS-polyamide was evaluated by using rhodamine B (RhB) dye-polluted solutions. It exhibited excellent adsorption performance for the removal of RhB with adsorption capacity of 19.9 mg/g. The pseudo-second-order equation and the Langmuir model exhibited a good correlation with the adsorption kinetics and isotherm data with R2 of >0.99. Tests of adsorption/desorption were performed, and the results showed that dye loaded CMS-polyamide could be regenerated (97%) using acetone. Possible adsorption mechanisms have been proposed, where electrostatic attraction, π-π stacking interactions and complexation interaction with metal dominate the adsorption of RhB. The excellent removal rate (≈100%) of RhB, even in the presence of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr, Ni, and Cu) in single and binary systems, endowed the CMS-polyamide with the potential for applications in water treatment.

TL;DR: In this article, the Psychological State Scale, Multigenerational Scale, and the Parental Authority Questionnaire were administered to 2,893 Arab adolescents in eight Arab societies and the results indicated that inconsistent parenting was associated with higher level of connectedness with the family and better mental health of adolescents.
Abstract: The Psychological State Scale, Multigenerational Scale, and the Parental Authority Questionnaire were administered to 2,893 Arab adolescents in eight Arab societies. In these tests, adolescents raised according to the inconsistent parenting scored lower in connectedness and higher in mental disorders than those raised according to the controlling or flexible-oriented parenting pattern. Authoritative parenting was associated with a higher level of connectedness with the family and better mental health of adolescents. A higher level of adolescent-family connectedness is associated with better mental health of adolescents. Results indicate that authoritarian parenting within an authoritarian culture does not harm the adolescents’ mental health as it does within the Western liberal societies. These results give rise to the hypothesis that inconsistency in parenting and inconsistency between the parenting style and the culture cause harm to adolescents’ mental health.
