TL;DR: A new protocol and algorithms to manage vehicle emergency situation on highway by using a new technique, referred to as Location Counter on Neighborhood Table, which facilitates the process of keeping track of the location of other vehicles in an effective radius on top of the vehicle-to-vehicle communication protocol.
Abstract: This paper presents a new protocol and algorithms to manage vehicle emergency situation on highway. The focus is given on how to detect false alarm messages from the vehicles that are not in an effective radius from the accident of concern. This problem is investigated by using a new technique, referred to as Location Counter on Neighborhood Table. The technique facilitates the process of keeping track of the location of other vehicles in an effective radius on top of the vehicle-to-vehicle communication protocol. The cost for the Neighborhood Table is maintained low in a matter of the number of vehicles in the effective radius; and the algorithms by using the Location Counter is kept simple in order to effectively manage emergency highway situations in timely manner. An example is provided to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness.

TL;DR: In this article, a double-tuple variable bulk arrival and static bulk service (VBASBS) model is proposed to assess the performance of the VBASBS model.
Abstract: This paper proposes a new hybrid chain, and a double-tuple variable bulk arrival and static bulk service (VBASBS) model to assess its performance. The proposed hybrid chain consists of a permissioned chain (e.g. Hyperledger) and a permission-less chain (e.g., Ethereum) with the double-tuple VBASBS-type queues, one per each chain, respectively. The hybrid chain may be realized in two different approaches such that API-API approach coordinates the context switching across hybrid chains through a script as an API to the API's to hybrid chains sitting on a central server; or CHAIN-API through an independent chain as an interface to the API's to hybrid chains. The proposed double-tuple model is built based on the top of single-tuple model such that the single-tuple model is extended to a double-tuple to address the two chains into account in a Markovian manner, through which the effectiveness, efficiency and versatility of the VBASBS model will be demonstrated in this paper. A few performances, such as the transaction execution time and the block spatial requirement, will be analyzed under various assumptions on the transaction arrival and service (i.e., block posting process) through extensive numerical methods on Matlab. The expected benefits of the proposed hybrid chain are: an inter-operability across hybrid chains, a seamless and thereby sustained crypto-trust, and ultimately an open chain, to mention a few. A crypto payment system using HTML as a frontend is developed as a testbed to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed hybrid chain.

TL;DR: In this article, a general-purpose Excel model that can generate the nonlinear total (utility, product and cost) functions in use in undergraduate microeconomics by mere change of parameters is presented.
Abstract: This paper presents a general-purpose Excel model that can generate the nonlinear total (utility, product and cost) functions in use in undergraduate microeconomics by mere change of parameters. The main pedagogical advantage of the model lies in the fact that it can produce the said nonlinear functions without relying on nonlinear mathematical formulas. This is achieved by reversing the usual order of exposition which starts with the total function. Instead, I begin with a two-piece linear marginal function and construct the total function recursively on its basis. Thus the model makes it possible to avoid mathematical concepts beyond elementary algebra without sacrificing precision and completeness of analysis. Since the majority of non-major undergraduate and MBA students in economics courses have minimal mathematical backgrounds, the proposed model would be of widespread interest to both the instructors and the students in smaller institutions and possibly even in some of the state universities.

TL;DR: Three- to five-year-old children participated in a hide-and-seek game to remember a target location out of four locations that moved in a series and showed salient individual differences in children’s representation, and their performance improved as the representation progressed.
Abstract: Previous research has found that 3-5-year-old children could encode and retrieve a target location in a two-location series In a paradigm of running two symmetrical railcars on a circular track, the study suggested that children used front-back array to help coding That is, children at this age code the railcar running in the front of another as "the location in the front" and the railcar running in the back of another as "the location in the back" However, the children's success could be attributed to an alternative interpretation; using an ordinal representation to encode the location in front as the first with the other as the second The current study used a four-location series to examine the children's mental representation Three- to five-year-old children participated in a hide-and-seek game to remember a target location out of four locations that moved in a series The results showed salient individual differences in children's representation, and their performance improved as the representation progressed An ordinal representation supported the precise encoding of each location, while a vague front-back representation and a clearer front-middle-back representation led to different performance
