TL;DR: In this paper, chemically textured Si with improved absorption in the complete range of solar spectrum was investigated by ultraviolet/visible/near-infrared (UV/Vis/NIR) spectroscopy, showing an average specular reflectance of ∼ 0.4% in the wavelength of 500-3000nm.
Abstract: Chemically textured Si with improved absorption in the complete range of solar spectrum is investigated by ultraviolet/visible/near-infrared (UV/Vis/NIR) spectroscopy, showing an average specular reflectance of ∼0.4% in the wavelength of 500–3000 nm. The pyramidal structures on such solar-blind Si can reduce the reflectance further below 0.1% in the UV region by conformal growth of granular Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films. X-ray diffraction analyses suggest the growth of polycrystalline AZO on faceted-Si. Moreover, marginal increase in electrical conductivity of AZO is found on textured surfaces, whereas rise in leakage current in Schottky-like Ag/AZO/Si/Ag heterostructure devices is noticed with increasing Si surface area.

TL;DR: Several natural product inspired fused and spiro-heterocyclic scaffolds were prepared by ring distortion and ring construction strategies and evaluated for anti-breast cancer activity as mentioned in this paper, which indicated an eclectic mix of structures among the molecules.
Abstract: Several natural product inspired fused and spiro-heterocyclic scaffolds were prepared by ring distortion and ring construction strategies and evaluated for anti-breast cancer activity. A facile domino Pictet–Spengler lactamization (PSL) afforded nine natural product inspired indolo[2,3-a]quinolizidine and indolo[8,7-b]indolizidine scaffolds which are converted to seven other scaffolds by functional group transformation, ring distortion and ring construction strategies. In vitro screenings of this library of sixteen scaffolds with six distinct architectures against MCF7 cell lines afforded two compounds (10 and 21) with modest activity. Principal component analysis of this library against databases of FDA approved drugs, commercial compounds and FDA approved breast cancer compounds indicated an eclectic mix of structures among the molecules.

01 Jan 2019TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a sustainable environmental management of E-waste by policies and governing regulations from its collection to recycling, which should increase the advance recycling practices by the formal sector and decrease the amount of waste contamination to the environment that is endangering human health and whole ecosystem.
Abstract: The waste derived from electrical and electronic equipment (i.e., E-waste) causes severe issues for the geo-environment. The heterogeneity and complexity of E-waste, containing lethal and toxic substances, are difficult to decompose and are classified as hazardous materials. High exposure of hazardous materials is harmful to human life. The improper management of E-waste with processing by the informal sector in nonscientific manner is making this scenario catastrophic. Additionally, illegal shifting by mislabelling E-waste from developed countries and exporting to developing countries makes it difficult to calculate the inventory and handling of the E-waste. Therefore, a sustainable environmental management of E-waste by policies and governing regulations from its collection to recycling are necessary. These measures of E-waste management should increase the advance recycling practices by the formal sector and decrease the amount of waste contamination to the environment that is endangering human health and whole ecosystem.
