TL;DR: Persian version of ICIQ-UI SF is a simple, valid, and reliable method for evaluation of patients with UI, and significant correlation exists between IC IQ-UISF score and urodynamics parameters.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To validate the Persian version of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form (ICIQ-UI SF) as a standard questionnaire for assessment of urinary incontinence (UI). MATERIALS AND METHODS: After translation and back translation of the questionnaire, the harmonized translation was pre-tested in a pilot study on 28 patients. The final Persian version of the ICIQ-UI SF was administered to 123 consecutive patients aged ≥ 16 years complaining of UI. The psychometric aspects of the questionnaire, such as reliability and construct validity, were assessed and compared with full urodynamics study’s findings as the gold standard diagnostic test. RESULTS: Mean age of the participants was 46.30 ± 13.14 years (range, 16 to 72 years). Based on ICIQ-UI SF, the prevalence of mixed urinary incontinence, stress urinary incontinence and urgency urinary incontinence was 35%, 34.1%, and 30.9%, respectively. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was calculated 0.75, which indicates the high reliability of this questionnaire in determination of UI. The obtained Weighted Kappa Index in determining the value of the test-retest was 0.70, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient was calculated 0.93 and intra-class correlation coefficient was 0.84. CONCLUSION: Persian version of ICIQ-UI SF is a simple, valid, and reliable method for evaluation of patients with UI. Significant correlation exists between ICIQ-UI SF score and urodynamics parameters.

TL;DR: An overview of mesoporous silica (MPS)-based enzyme nanobiosensors developed for biological and medical applications is provided, and significant advances in these technologies are described.
Abstract: Biology and medicine have seen great advancements in the development of enzyme nanobiosensors capable of characterizing and quantifying biomolecules. We provide an overview of mesoporous silica (MPS)-based enzyme nanobiosensors developed for biological and medical applications, and we describe significant advances in these technologies. We review progress in constructing high-performance electrochemical enzyme biosensors. We also discuss: • MCM-41 and SBA-15-modified and MPS composite electrodes for enzyme biosensing; • incorporation of biorecognition elements into MPS material electrodes for enzyme biosensing; and, • MCM-41 and SBA-15-supported electrocatalytic MPS-based electrochemical enzyme biosensors.

TL;DR: FT-IR spectra of Met-SLN showed that the prominent functional groups existed in the formulations which could be an indication of good entrapment of metformin in a lipid matrix, and FT-IR results also ruled out any chemical interaction between the drug and the excipients.

TL;DR: This review article can be useful in choosing the right method for imaging in people suspected of breast cancer.
Abstract: Nowadays, breast cancer is the second cause of death after cardiovascular diseases. In general, about one out of eight women (about 12%) suffer from this disease during their life in the USA and European countries. If breast cancer is detected at an early stage, its survival rate will be very high. Several methods have been introduced to diagnose breast cancer with their clinical advantages and disadvantages. In this review, various methods of breast imaging have been introduced. Furthermore, the sensitivity and specificity of each of these methods have been investigated. For each of the imaging methods, articles that were relevant to the past 10 years were selected through electronic search engines, and then the most relevant papers were selected. Finally, about 40 articles were studied and their results were categorized and presented in the form of a report as follows. Various breast cancer imaging techniques were extracted as follows: mammography, contrast-enhanced mammography, digital tomosynthesis, sonography, sonoelastography, magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic elastography, diffusion-weighted imaging, magnetic spectroscopy, nuclear medicine, optical imaging, and microwave imaging. The choice of these methods depends on the patient’s state and stage, the age of the individual and the density of the breast tissue. Hybrid imaging techniques appear to be an acceptable way to improve detection of breast cancer. This review article can be useful in choosing the right method for imaging in people suspected of breast cancer.

TL;DR: The results of this study demonstrate that a short-term administration of metformin strongly protected the myocardium against isoproterenol-induced infarction, and suggest that patients suffering from myocardial ischemia could benefit from treatment with met formin.
