TL;DR: The nucleosomes from chick erythrocytes can be fractionated according to their electrophoretic mobility in (comparatively) high salt acrylamide gels and it is shown that the fractionation is based predominantly on differences in charge.
Abstract: Monomer nucleosomes from chick erythrocytes can be fractionated according to their electrophoretic mobility in (comparatively) high salt acrylamide gels. We show that the fractionation is based predominantly on differences in charge. The monomer heterogeneity persists even when the nucleosomes are trimmed down to 145 bp with Exo III or when H1 and H5 are removed. The slowest migrating monomers are associated with HMG 14 and 17; however, we do not believe that these proteins are entirely responsible for the altered mobility since the nucleosome heterogeneity persists even after removal of HMG 14 and 17. The DNA associated with the HMG 14 and 17 containing nucleosomes is shown to be enriched in actively transcribed globin sequences.

TL;DR: In this article, the 70 eV electron impact mass spectra of twelve 5 and 3-substituted thiophene-2-carboxamides are discussed with the aid of exact mass measurements and labelling experiments.
Abstract: The 70 eV electron impact mass spectra of twelve 5- and 3-substituted thiophene-2-carboxamides are discussed with the aid of exact mass measurements and labelling experiments. All mass spectra exhibit pronounced molecular ions. Some isomeric 5- and 3-substituted title compounds can be differentiated by mass spectrometry. The fragmentation is influenced by a strong ‘ortho-effect’ which activates the NH3 elimination. In the other cases the most important fragmentation is NH2˙ loss, followed by CO elimination.

Abstract: Polycrystalline layers of WO3·H2O are obtained by anodization of tungsten in 1 N H2SO4 at 70° C. The cathodic reduction of these layers in acid solutions causes the formation of blue WO3−x·H2O (0

TL;DR: An approach which allows us to define in an unambiguous way the concepts of symmetrical, complementary and parallel interaction is proposed, which allows for a probabilistic theory of change of interacting subjects.
Abstract: In studying the problem of interaction between subjects, an approach which allows us to define in an unambiguous way the concepts of symmetrical, complementary and parallel interaction is proposed. This approach makes use of a point of view within which it is possible to develop a rational model based only on some fundamental elements of set theory and mathematical logic The model allows us to develop a probabilistic theory of change, the representation basis of which is furnished by the 16 basic set functions. The functions represent operations on two partially overlapping sets, which will be called the “worlds”, of interacting subjects.. Both an interaction test that allows a “measure” of the relation parameters and the preliminary results of a dyadic interaction experiment are presented Some remarks can be made from the results of the present experiment and from other similar ones. Among these there are evidences that the symmetrical, complementary and parallel classes of interactions belong t...

TL;DR: In this paper, stress relaxation experiments in the limit of small deformations have been carried out in a wide range of temperatures for pure nylon 6 and its mixtures with LiBr and/or LiCl.
Abstract: Stress-relaxation experiments in the limit of small deformations have been carried out in a wide range of temperatures for pure nylon 6 and its mixtures with LiBr and/or LiCl. Master curves have been constructed, by allowing horizontal shifts only, showing the shape typical for semicrystalline polymers in the case of pure nylon and that of essentially amorphous polymers in the case of salted samples. The glass transition temperatures determined from the plot logaT− 1/T is increased when in the presence of salts. All such effects are considered to reflect the binding action of Li+ and Br− ions.

Abstract: Let R be an associative ring and f(x1,…, xd) a polynomial in noncommuting variables. We say that f is periodic or nil in R if for all r1,…, rd ∈ R we have that f(r1,…, rd) is periodic, respectively nilpotent (recall that a ∈ R is periodic if for some integer ).

TL;DR: In this article, the glass transition temperature and elastic modulus of nylon-6 and its mixtures with 4% w/w LiCl and with 2% LiCl+3% LiBr were investigated.
Abstract: The glass-transition temperature (Tg) and the elastic modulus of nylon-6 and its mixtures with 4% w/w LiCl and with 2% LiCl+3% LiBr were investigated. In one set of experiments care was taken to avoid absorption of moisture during the measurements. In another set of experiments, samples were exposed to atmospheric humidity for different lengths of time. Both unoriented and oriented specimens were investigated. The presence of 4% LiCl almost doubles the amount of moisture absorbed at equilibrium by nylon-6. The Tg was found to be greatly affected by the moisture content and by salt type. When strict precautions to exclude moisture are taken, the addition of 4% LiCl raises the Tg of nylon-6 by about 25°C. The elastic modulus of oriented samples is increased by the addition of salts provided moisture is completely absent. This beneficial effect is, however, completely eliminated when samples are allowed to equilibrate with atmospheric moisture.

Abstract: The presence of HBV markers was determined in 149 serum samples obtained from diabetic patients and was compared with a normal population. Diabetics have the same incidence of HBsAg but significantly higher anti-HBc antibodies. These differences were seen in the group of diabetics on oral hypoglycemic therapy. These results cannot yet be explained.

TL;DR: In this article, stress relaxation data after single and double elongational strain “steps” were collected on a commercial polyisobutylene, Oppanol B 50, and a separability of deformation and time effects was observed over an extended time region for the relaxation after single "steps".
Abstract: Stress relaxation data after single and double elongational strain “steps” were collected on a commercial polyisobutylene, Oppanol B 50. Analogously to other cases a separability of deformation and time effects was observed over an extended time region for the relaxation after single “steps”. Moreover, by comparing the results after double with those after single steps, it was noted that any rheological equation of integral type having a rigorously constant memory function is not able to describe accurately the full body of results presented here. On the other hand the data were favorably compared with the predictions of a model proposed earlier.
