TL;DR: Data herein indicated that both pomegranate aril and peel extracts have an effective antimicrobial activity, as evidenced by the inhibitory effect on the bacterial growth of two important human pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, which are often involved in foodborne illness.

TL;DR: In this article, an axially symmetric solution for f(R)-gravity can be derived starting from exact spherically symmetric solutions achieved by Noether symmetries.
Abstract: Axially symmetric solutions for f(R)-gravity can be derived starting from exact spherically symmetric solutions achieved by Noether symmetries. The method takes advantage of a complex coordinate transformation previously developed by Newman and Janis in general relativity. An example is worked out to show the general validity of the approach. The physical properties of the solution are also considered.

TL;DR: In this article, a range arithmetic-based approach is proposed for solving power flow problems whose input data are specified within real compact intervals, and reliable interval bounds are computed for the power flow problem, which is represented as an optimization model with complementary constraints to properly represent generator bus voltage controls.
Abstract: This paper presents a novel framework based on range arithmetic for solving power flow problems whose input data are specified within real compact intervals. Reliable interval bounds are computed for the power flow problem, which is represented as an optimization model with complementary constraints to properly represent generator bus voltage controls, including reactive power limits and voltage recovery processes. It is demonstrated that the lower and upper bounds of the power flow solutions can be obtained by solving two determinate optimization problems. Several numerical results are presented and discussed, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed methodology and comparing it to a previously proposed affine arithmetic based solution approach.

TL;DR: An assignment model on urban networks to simulate parking choices and the impact of cruising for parking upon road congestion is proposed, where each layer simulates a trip phase (on-car trip between the origin and destination zone and walking egress trip).

TL;DR: In this paper, a search for short-duration gravitational-wave bursts with arbitrary waveform in the 64-1600 Hz frequency range appeared in all three LIGO interferometers.
Abstract: The fourth science run of the LIGO and GEO 600 gravitational-wave detectors, carried out in early 2005, collected data with significantly lower noise than previous science runs. We report on a search for short-duration gravitational-wave bursts with arbitrary waveform in the 64–1600 Hz frequency range appearing in all three LIGO interferometers. Signal consistency tests, data quality cuts and auxiliary-channel vetoes are applied to reduce the rate of spurious triggers. No gravitational-wave signals are detected in 15.5 days of live observation time; we set a frequentist upper limit of 0.15 day−1 (at 90% confidence level) on the rate of bursts with large enough amplitudes to be detected reliably. The amplitude sensitivity of the search, characterized using Monte Carlo simulations, is several times better than that of previous searches. We also provide rough estimates of the distances at which representative supernova and binary black hole merger signals could be detected with 50% efficiency by this analysis.
