The European critical levels for ozone : improving their usage

TL;DR: In this paper, a model for simulation of leaf area index and canopy height development, based on algorithms adopted from a widely validated agrometeorological model of the German Weather Service, is presented.

Restricted-tillering wheat does not lead to greater investment in roots and early nitrogen uptake

TL;DR: The least restricted-tillering double haploid line, F20, had root biomass, root length and root number as high as the vigorous line Vigor 18, and these below-ground parameters were strongly correlated with leaf area, shoot biomass and N uptake, suggesting that enlarging and expanding of the root system and hence improving N capture by roots might be under the control of vigor gene rather than under theControl of restricted-Tillering gene.

Grain weight in wheat cultivars released from 1920 to 1990 as affected by post-anthesis defoliation

TL;DR: If the source–sink ratio is further reduced, the grain yield of modern wheats will be simultaneously limited by the source and the sink, and future breeding should attempt to improve simultaneously both sink and source strengths.

Crop loss assessment methods.

L. Chiarappa
TL;DR: In the same year, the director general of FAOFAO convened a Symposium on crop losses to emphasize the need for the development and use of experimental methods to estimate crop losses quantitatively as mentioned in this paper.

Plant Breeding Institute.

TL;DR: This follow-up report summarises pathotype (pt.) assay results from the samples that have been processed to date, and of note is the recovery of wheat leaf rust pt.1, considered to be of exotic origin.
