Acyl-CoA oxidase from Candida tropicalis
TLDR
The preparation of a highly purified acyl-CoA oxidase from the cell extract of an n-alkane-utilizing yeast, Candida tropicalis, is described, and it can be crystallized from ammonium sulfate solutions without an increase in specific activity, and is homogeneous on ultracentrifuge and disc electrophoresis.About:

TL;DR: In Crohn's disease, a constitutionally weak immune response predisposes to accumulation of intestinal contents that breach the mucosal barrier of the bowel wall, resulting in granuloma formation and chronic inflammation, and current treatment of secondary chronic inflammation might exaggerate the underlying lesion and promote chronic disease.

Interaction between colonic acetate and propionate in humans.
TL;DR: Results are consistent with the hypothesis that colonic propionate is a gluconeogenic substrate in humans and inhibits the utilization of acetate for cholesterol synthesis.
