Abstract
Air, air, air… and some solid skeleton; this is the basis for an interesting class of materials-the aerogels (shown schematically on the right). Can one therefore speak of "simple" chemistry? The design of such a filigrane network requires the very careful control of chemical parameters. The reward is an assortment of different property profiles owing to the richness of possible variations.

Triboelectric nanogenerators made of polybenzazole aerogels as fire-resistant negative tribo-materials

TL;DR: In this article, poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) aerogels (PBOAs) were used as the negative tribo-materials in TENGs.

Fabrication of SWNT/silica composites by the sol-gel process.

TL;DR: Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) have successfully been incorporated into a silica matrix using the sol-gel process and the addition of TMOS was found to influence the molecular arrangement of the SWNT in thesilica matrix and also to retard the degradation of the silica-SWNT composite.

Aerogel-foam composites

TL;DR: An aerogel-foam composite includes an open cell foam and an open-cell polyurethane foam disposed in the open cell foams as mentioned in this paper, which has a compression strength of about 15 megaPascals (MPa) or more.

Ethylene (co)polymerization with supported-metallocenes prepared by the sol-gel method

TL;DR: In this article, four supported metallocenes prepared by the solgel method were tested by ethylene homopolymerization and in ethylene/1-hexene copolymerization.
