Abstract
Air, air, air… and some solid skeleton; this is the basis for an interesting class of materials-the aerogels (shown schematically on the right). Can one therefore speak of "simple" chemistry? The design of such a filigrane network requires the very careful control of chemical parameters. The reward is an assortment of different property profiles owing to the richness of possible variations.

The economics of thermal superinsulation in buildings

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived an equation to quantify the cost to create additional floor space using super-insulation materials as opposed to conventional thermal insulators and showed that, from a financial perspective, the use of superinsulation such as silica aerogel or vacuum insulation panels is already clearly profitable in several major cities globally.

A one-step-assembled three-dimensional network of silver/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) nanowires and its application in energy storage

TL;DR: A facile methodology is developed for one-step fabrication of silver/polyvinylpyrrolidone nanowire (AgPNW) hydrogel and high-quality robust ultralight AgPNW aerogel ( AgPNWA) on a large scale and provides important insights into designing a facile 3D assembly of nanomaterials, and thermal energy storage materials with high performance and reliability.
