Abstract
Air, air, air… and some solid skeleton; this is the basis for an interesting class of materials-the aerogels (shown schematically on the right). Can one therefore speak of "simple" chemistry? The design of such a filigrane network requires the very careful control of chemical parameters. The reward is an assortment of different property profiles owing to the richness of possible variations.

Geometric optimization of aerogel composites for high temperature thermal insulation applications

TL;DR: In this article, an optimization method considering both thermal radiation and heat conduction was developed to design the geometric structures of aerogel composites with minimized thermal conductivity, and the results showed that when the ambient temperature is lower than ~ 600 K, the additives with low thermal conductivities are preferred.

High-strength, thermal-stable ZrO2 aerogel from polyacetylacetonatozirconium

TL;DR: In this article, polyacetylacetonatozirconium was used as the precursor to synthesize ZrO2 aerogel (PAZ-ZrO 2).
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of thermal process on microstructural and physical properties of ambient pressure dried hydrophobic silica aerogel monoliths

TL;DR: In this paper, the experimental results of thermal process on the microstructural and physical properties of ambient pressure dried hydrophobic silica aerogel monoliths are reported and discussed.

Preparation, Characterization, and In Vitro Sustained Release Profile of Resveratrol-Loaded Silica Aerogel.

TL;DR: Preliminary in vitro toxicity test revealed RSA to be biocompatible and stable; and when coupled with the anti-inflammatory effects of resveratrol, showed good potential for osteoarthritis treatment.

Controlled synthesis of porous 3D interconnected MnO /C composite aerogel and their excellent lithium-storage properties

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of carbonization temperature and the amount of polyacrylic acid (PAA)-assisted manganese-based aerogel on the microstructure and lithium storage performance of composites is presented.
