Proposed modifications to the Wheeler retardation model for multiple overloading fatigue life prediction
B.K.C. Yuen,Farid Taheri +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a number of modifications to the Wheeler fatigue crack retardation model were proposed to account for the delay retardation due to applied overloads, initial crack growth acceleration immediately following an overload, overload interaction and the net section yielding effect observed in the fatigue crack growth retardation behaviour of many materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of adhesive thickness on fatigue and fracture of toughened epoxy joints – Part I: Experiments
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of bondline thickness, from 130μm to 790μm, on the fatigue and quasi-static fracture behavior of aluminum joints bonded using a toughened epoxy adhesive was studied experimentally under mode-I and mixed-mode (ADCB) loading.
Journal ArticleDOI
Production of innovative, recycled and high-performance asphalt for road pavements
TL;DR: In this article, a specific laboratory study aiming at perfectioning recycled asphalt with high mechanical performance, for surface and structural layers of flexible pavements, was conducted, where the aim was to combine in the same material the maximum possible quantity of recycled asphalt (RA), coming from degraded asphalt layers, together with high structural performance of the recycled mixtures obtained (mainly stability, load spreading properties, rutting and fatigue resistance) that should not be lower, or possibly better than those offered by traditional asphalt mixture, made with virgin binder and aggregate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sediment quality guidelines and assessment: overview and research needs
TL;DR: A number of specific technical approaches for the development of sediment quality guidelines have been proposed, including effects-based correlative approaches, equilibrium partitioning, and consensus using a combination of approaches as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of shoe sole tread groove depth on the friction coefficient with different tread groove widths, floors and contaminants.
TL;DR: The results showed that tread groove depth affected the friction coefficients significantly, and higher friction values were recorded for footwear pads with deeper tread grooves on wet and water-detergent-contaminated floors.
