A Phenomenological Model for the Effect of R Ratio on Fatigue of Strain Crystallizing Rubbers
William V. Mars,Ali Fatemi +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a simple phenomenological model for the effect of R ratio on fatigue crack growth rate in strain crystallizing rubbers is proposed, which provides a simple approach to estimate fatigue performance when limited data are available, and may find application in the analysis of load histories from actual service.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of island size and isolation and old growth forest habitat and bird diversity in Gwaii Haanas (Queen Charlotte Islands, Canada)
TL;DR: Survey of vegetation and bird faunas of forests on 65 islands in the Gwaii Haanas archipelago of British Columbia, Canada found variation in habitat structure mediated by area and isolation was the key factor involved in determining the local composition of the bird community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative study for hardwood and softwood forest biomass: Chemical characterization, combustion phases and gas and particulate matter emissions
Simone Simões Amaral,João Andrade de Carvalho Junior,Maria Angélica Martins Costa,Turibio Gomes Soares Neto,Rafael Dellani,Luiz Henrique Scavacini Leite +5 more
TL;DR: CO2 and CO emissions factors seem to be influenced by lignin content, and maximum concentrations of CO2, NOx and PM2.5 were observed in the flaming phase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Corrosion fatigue behavior of a biocompatible ultrafine-grained niobium alloy in simulated body fluid
TL;DR: Electrochemical measurements revealed stable passive behavior in SBF saline solutions, similar to conventional Ti-6Al-4V alloy, and excellent corrosion and corrosion fatigue properties of UFG NbZr recommend it as an attractive new material for biomedical implants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluating chemical dispersant efficacy in an experimental wave tank: 2 - Significant factors determining in situ oil droplet size distribution.
TL;DR: In this article, in situ dispersed oil droplet size distributions were characterized during testing of chemical dispersant effectiveness of two dispersants (Corexit 9500 and SPC 1000) on two oils [Medium South American (MESA) and Alaska North Slope (ANS)] under three wave conditions (regular non-breaking, spilling breaking, and plunging breaking waves) in an experimental wave tank.
