Evidence that the major protein in rat sciatic nerve myelin is a glycoprotein.
TL;DR: It is presented that the major protein of rat sciatic nerve myelin is a glycoprotein and radioactive labelling of myelin in vivo with [3H]leucine and [14C]fucose, followed by electrophoresis of the proteins, indicated that with both isotopes the major labelled peak corresponded to the major stained band.
Journal ArticleDOI
Replication of tobacco mosaic virus: III. Viral RNA metabolism in separated leaf cells☆☆☆
TL;DR: Results of these studies suggest that RI and RF may be progenitors of TMV RNA; however, the inability to completely chase [ 3 H]uridine from RF raises additional possibilities, which are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polyoma virus basic proteins.

TL;DR: Comparison of peptides of polypeptides derived from [35S]-methionine labelled virus with those from mouse cell histones showed correspondence of two major and several minor peptides, concluding that these polypePTides are therefore not virus coded.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross-linking within a subunit of coupling factor 1 increases the proton permeability of spinach chloroplast thylakoids.
M A Weiss,R E McCarty +1 more
TL;DR: The bifunctional maleimide, o-phenylenedimaleimide (OPDM), inhibits photophosphorylation in spinach chloro- plast thylakoids at concentrations as low as 100 nM and is therefore, about 500-fold more effective than N-ethylma- leimide.
Journal ArticleDOI
A gel electrophoretic analysis of proteins from plants infected with tobacco mosaic and potato spindle tuber viruses.
TL;DR: In extracts of PSTV-infected tomato plants no proteins of a molecular weight expected for a virus coat protein were detected, lending support to the conclusion that no protein-containing virions are produced by this unusual virus.

Molecular weight estimation of polypeptide chains by electrophoresis in SDS-polyacrylamide gels
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular weight estimation of polypeptides by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis: further data concerning resolving power and general considerations.
TL;DR: Experiments with S35-labeled SDS suggest that the SDS-protein complex is a loose one and that exchange of SDS with the environment occurs at an exceedingly high rate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved solubilization procedures for liquid scintillation counting of biological materials
D.L. Hansen,E.T. Bush +1 more
TL;DR: Hyamine hydroxide and NCS appear to be capable of solubilizing soft tissues and many purified biological materials so that low-energy beta emitters (H 3 and C 14 ) can be counted with true solution efficiencies, as determined by internal standardization, channels ratio, etc as mentioned in this paper.
