Histidine-rich protein as a possible origin of free amino acids of stratum corneum
Izumi Horii,Kiyoshi Kawasaki,Junichi Koyama,Yasuhisa Nakayama,Keisuke Nakajima,Kuninobu Okazaki,Makoto Seiji +6 more
TL;DR: Time‐course labeling of epidermal proteins was examined by sodium dodecyl sulfate‐polyacryl amide gel electrophoresis (SDS‐PAGE) and radioactivity was measured in the following three epidersmal fractions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of a Membrane Protein Involved in Mitochondrial Phosphate Transport
Paul Hadvary,Bernhard Kadenbach +1 more
TL;DR: A specific labeling by radioactive N-ethylmaleimide of a protein involved in phosphate transport was obtained by protecting one of the two-SH-groups of the transport system with low concentrations of mersalyl.

[66] Delineation of the mechanism of ATP synthesis in chloroplasts: Use of uncouplers, energy transfer inhibitors, and modifiers of coupling factor 1
TL;DR: The role of uncouplers, energy transfer inhibitors, and modifiers of coupling factor 1 in ATP synthesis in chloroplasts is discussed, and phlorizin specifically inhibits electron flow which is dependent on phosphorylation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discontinuous polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of RNA.
TL;DR: A discontinuous polyacrylamide gel system is described which allows the simultaneous resolution of 38S, 28S, 18S, 5S, and 4S RNA molecules from total RNA extracts on a single gel.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deoxyadenosine diphosphate as a substrate and inhibitor of polynucleotide phosphorylase of Micrococcus luteus. I. Deoxyadenosine diphosphate as a substrate for polymerization and the exchange reaction with inorganic 32 P.
TL;DR: Polynucleotide phosphorylase of Micrococcus luteus catalyzes the addition of a single dAMP moiety from dADP onto an oligoribonucleotide, and it appears that 32Pi-dADP exchange occurs by the additions of a dAMP residue to the end of a polyribon nucleotide chain and the subsequent phosphorolysis of the internucleotide bond.

Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular weight estimation of polypeptides by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis: further data concerning resolving power and general considerations.
TL;DR: Experiments with S35-labeled SDS suggest that the SDS-protein complex is a loose one and that exchange of SDS with the environment occurs at an exceedingly high rate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved solubilization procedures for liquid scintillation counting of biological materials
D.L. Hansen,E.T. Bush +1 more
TL;DR: Hyamine hydroxide and NCS appear to be capable of solubilizing soft tissues and many purified biological materials so that low-energy beta emitters (H 3 and C 14 ) can be counted with true solution efficiencies, as determined by internal standardization, channels ratio, etc as mentioned in this paper.
