Application of the collisional-radiative, atomic-molecular model to the recombining divertor plasma

TLDR
In this article, the authors calculated the effective rate coefficient for plasma recombination taking into account the plasma chemical reactions with vibrationally excited molecules and showed that the large size of this rate coefficient and its specific dependence on plasma parameters may explain the anomalously fast plasma recombinations experimentally observed on many divertor tokamaks.

Static and dynamic behaviour of plasma detachment in the divertor simulator experiment NAGDIS-II

TL;DR: In this paper, the static and dynamic behavior of detached recombining plasmas in the linear divertor plasma simulator NAGDIS-II was investigated. But the results of the analysis were limited to a single tokamak diveror.

Volume recombination and opacity in Alcator C-Mod divertor plasmas

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the D0 Balmer spectrum and used a collisional radiative model describing the level populations, ionization, and recombination of D0.

Physics of ultimate detachment of a tokamak divertor plasma

TL;DR: In this paper, the basic physics of the processes playing the most important role in divertor plasma detachment is reviewed, and the models used in the two-dimensional edge plasma transport codes that are widely used to address different issues of the edge plasma physics and to simulate the experimental data, as well as the numerical schemes and convergence issues, are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Divertor plasma detachment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the increase of impurity radiation loss and volumetric plasma recombination causes the rollover of the plasma flux to the target when the density increases, which is the manifestation of detachment.

First results from Alcator‐C‐MOD*

TL;DR: Early operation of the Alcator C-MOD tokamak [I.H. Hutchinson et al., 1990] is surveyed and the edge plasma shows a wealth of marfe-like phenomena, including a transition to detachment from the divertor plates with accompanying radiative divertor regions.
