Validation of SO2 retrievals from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument over NE China
Nickolay A. Krotkov,Brittany McClure,Russell R. Dickerson,Simon Carn,Can Li,Pawan K. Bhartia,Kai Yang,Arlin J. Krueger,Zhanqing Li,Pieternel F. Levelt,Hongbin Chen,Pucai Wang,Daren Lu +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Dutch-Finnish Ozone monitoring instrument (OMI) was used to distinguish between background SO2 conditions and heavy pollution on a daily basis, and the difference between the in situ data and the OMI SO2 measurements within 30 km of the aircraft profiles was about 1 DU.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of PM2.5, PM2.5-10 and PM>10 in ambient air, Yokohama, Japan
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the characteristics of ambient PM2.5 with water soluble ions, i.e., Cl−, NO3−, SO42−, Na+, NH4+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ from the samples collected for the period of 2007-2008.

Sensitivity studies of different aerosol indirect effects in mixed-phase clouds
Ulrike Lohmann,Corinna Hoose +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of anthropogenic aerosols on mixed-phase clouds was investigated by varying the parameterization for the Bergeron-Findeisen process and the threshold coating thickness of sulfate, which is required to convert an externally mixed aerosol particle into an internally mixed particle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation of Hydroxyl Radical from the Photolysis of Frozen Hydrogen Peroxide
Liang Chu,Cort Anastasio +1 more
TL;DR: HOOH appears to be much more important than nitrate as a photochemical source of *OH on cirrus ice clouds, where reactions of the photochemically formed hydroxyl radical could lead to the release of oxygenated volatile organic compounds to the upper troposphere.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term monitoring and source apportionment of PM2.5/PM10 in Beijing, China
TL;DR: The long-term monitoring data of elements, ions, and black carbon showed that the major constituents of PM2.5 were black carbon (BC) crustal elements, nitrates, ammonium salts, and sulfates, and these five major components accounted for 20%-80% of the total PM 2.5.
