Sequencing and expression analysis of sakacin genes in Lactobacillus curvatus strains
TL;DR: This study focused its investigation on two strains of Lactobacillus curvatus, L442 and LTH1174, which are able to produce bacteriocins, and was able to target in both strains the genes for the production of sakacin P and sskacin Q, sppA and sppQ, respectively, both encoded chromosomally.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of nutrient supplements on simultaneous fermentation of nisin and lactic acid from cull potatoes.
Chuanbin Liu,Yan Liu,Shulin Chen +2 more
TL;DR: The feasibility of using cull potatoes as substrate for the simultaneous production of nisin, a natural food preservative, and lactic acid, a raw material for biopolymer production, was studied in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of baking enzymes on antimicrobial activity of five bacteriocin-like inhibitory substances produced by lactic acid bacteria isolated from Lithuanian sourdoughs.
TL;DR: To evaluate the effect of four different baking enzymes on the inhibitory activity of five bacteriocin‐like inhibitory substances produced by lactic acid bacteria isolated from Lithuanian sourdoughs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasmid profiles of bacteriocin-producing Lactobacillus isolates from African fermented foods.
TL;DR: Plasmid analysis of the 14 bacteriocin-producing lactobacilli showed that only 5 isolates harbored plasmids ranging in size from 3.1 to 55.5 kb.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heterologous expression of functionally active enterolysin A, class III bacteriocin from Enterococcus faecalis, in Escherichia coli
TL;DR: The heterologous expression of enterolysin A (EnlA), heat-labile class III bacteriocin from Enterococcus faecalis II/1 with anti-listerial activity, was studied in Escherichia coli and led to the synthesis of biologically non-active proteins.
