Research-based communities of practice in UK higher education

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the values and motivation of individuals involved in developing research within these higher education communities and found that 20 such values are apparent with 12 of these observed in past research; the other eight have emerged from this research and centre on a number of issues, including the need to overcome intellectual isolation, generation of tangible research outcomes, increased synergy and leverage, and creation of collaborative research.
