TLDR
In this article, the authors proposed a method to predict the distribution of residence-times in large systems by using distribution-functions for residencetimes, which can be used to calculate the etficiencies of reactors and blenders.About:

Meta-analysis of the effects of soil properties, site factors and experimental conditions on solute transport
TL;DR: In this paper, a database of breakthrough curve experiments under steady-state flow conditions was assembled and the authors focused on three indicators of preferential solute transport: namely the 5-arrival time, the holdback factor, and the ratio of piston-flow and average transport velocities.

A microbiologically clean strategy for access to the Whillans Ice Stream subglacial environment

TL;DR: The Whillans Ice Stream Subglacial Access Research Drilling (WISSARD) project will test the overarching hypothesis that an active hydrological system exists beneath a West Antarctic ice stream that exerts a major control on ice dynamics, and the metabolic and phylogenetic diversity of the microbial community in subglacial water and sediment as discussed by the authors.

Design of a gas phase simulated moving bed for propane/propylene separation
TL;DR: In this article, an alternative separation of propane-propylene mixtures using simulated moving bed (SMB) technology over 13X zeolite and isobutane as desorbent is presented.

Notes on Groundwater Age in Forward and Inverse Modeling
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a numerical study of an inverse problem in which hydraulic conductivities are identified using both piezometric head and groundwater age data where inclusion of age data helps to reduce evidential nonuniqueness.

Dynamics of liquid flow in an up-flow reactor-used for anaerobic treatment of wastewater
TL;DR: By means of stimulus‐response experiments with a Li+ tracer, a description of the fluid flow in a 30 m3 reactor, used for anaerobic treatment of wastewater, was derived and it was concluded that 60 m3 gas/day were sufficient to provide good mixing and also that the height of the sludge bed should be 2–3 m.

The Definition and Measurement of Some Characteristics of Mixtures
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the important features of such mixtures can be expressed by two statistically defined quantities, the scale and the intensity of segregation, and methods of measuring these are suggested.
