TLDR
In this article, the authors proposed a method to predict the distribution of residence-times in large systems by using distribution-functions for residencetimes, which can be used to calculate the etficiencies of reactors and blenders.About:

The backflow cell model of isothermal first order flow reactors with axial dispersion
J. T. Baldwin,L. D. Durbin +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the conditions of convergence of the concentration A ⇄ R in backflow cell models of isothermal flow reactors are compared to those of the continuous dispersion model and the effect of backmixing upon the optimum temperature and maximum product yields of R is considered for the reversible reaction in the finite reactor.

Multiple outflows, spatial components, and nonlinearities in age theory
TL;DR: In this article, the role of multiple outflows, spatial components and nonlinearities in age theory is analyzed, including the relationship between age distribution at death and survival time distribution at birth, and how the impulse-response function affects both amplitude gain and time delay of the outflow and the long term average partitioning.

Modeling of SiO 2 CVD from TEOS/ozone in a separate-gas-injection reactor
TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model was developed to study the chemical vapor deposition of SiO2 from TEOS and ozone in a cold-wall separate-gas-injection reactor related to the commercial Watkins-Johnson 7000.

Ultrafast heating by high efficient biomass direct mixing with supercritical water
Luis Vaquerizo,María José Cocero +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the mixer configuration on the mixing efficiency in the process of biomass ultrafast hydrolysis by supercritical water is analyzed, and the results of the CFD simulations of a horizontal tee, a vertical tee and a cross mixer, selected as the optimal mixing configurations, together with the experimental results obtained in our hydrolyisation plant, are the base to determine the configuration which provides the best mixing performance.

Underutilization of bubble column reactors due to desorption
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the desorption of a gaseous reactant due to its supersaturation in the liquid phase by using a modified axial dispersion model.

The Definition and Measurement of Some Characteristics of Mixtures
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the important features of such mixtures can be expressed by two statistically defined quantities, the scale and the intensity of segregation, and methods of measuring these are suggested.
