TLDR
In this article, a system of chemical reactions has been developed which permits the controlled growth of spherical silica particles of uniform size by means of hydrolysis of alkyl silicates and subsequent condensation of silicic acid in alcoholic solutions.

Mesoporous size controllable carbon microspheres and their electrochemical performances for supercapacitor electrodes

TL;DR: In this article, size controllable SiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by adjusting the hydrolysis-condensation time and the concentration of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) in ethanol-water solution in the presence of ammonia as a catalyst were encapsulated within resorcinol-formaldehyde polymer microspheres which were fabricated in the same ethanolwater-ammonia system.

Polydopamine-based molecular imprinting on silica-modified magnetic nanoparticles for recognition and separation of bovine hemoglobin

TL;DR: The synthesis of a polydopamine-based molecular imprinted film coating on silica-Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles for recognition and separation of bovine hemoglobin suggests that MMIPs are suitable for the removal of high abundance of protein and the enrichment of low abundance ofprotein in proteomics.

Uniform Colloidal Spheres for (Y1−xGdx)2O3 (x = 0–1): Formation Mechanism, Compositional Impacts, and Physicochemical Properties of the Oxides

TL;DR: In this article, the growth kinetics and composition evolution of the precursor spheres were investigated in detail, and it was identified for the first time that differential nucleation occurs with regard to Y and Gd, and as a result concentration gradients exist within each precursor particle of the mixed Y/Gd system.

Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for biomedical applications.

TL;DR: Due to their high magnetization, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles induce an important decrease in the transverse relaxation of water protons and are, therefore, very efficient negative MRI contrast agents.

Electron Microscopy of Monodisperse Latexes

TL;DR: In this article, a series of monodisperse polystyrene latexes has been prepared by carefully controlled emulsion polymerizations. The particle diameters of three of these latexes were determined by electron microscopy.

Aerosil, Herstellung, Eigenschaften und Verhalten in organischen Flüssigkeiten

TL;DR: Aerosil, ein sehr reines, koaguliertes Siliciumdioxyd-Aerosol with Teilchen von 10 bis 40 mμ Durchmesser, wird durch Flammenhydrolyse von siliciumtetrachlorid gewonnen as discussed by the authors.
