The influence of nano-silica on the hydration of ordinary Portland cement

TL;DR: In this article, nano-silica particles of different sizes and specific surface areas were synthesized and the acceleration of cement hydration clearly correlates with the total surface size of the added particles, which was varied by either using smaller particles or higher concentration of particles in the cement lime.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multifunctional nanoparticles: analytical prospects.

TL;DR: This review presents a narrative summary on the use of multifuncional nanoparticles for analytical applications, along with a discussion on some critical challenges existing in the field and possible solutions that have been or are being developed to overcome these challenges.

Multiform oxide optical materials via the versatile pechini-type Sol-Gel process : Synthesis and characteristics

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlight work from the authors' laboratories on various kinds of oxide optical materials, mainly luminescence and pigment materials with different forms (powder, core−shell structures, thin film and patterning) prepared by the Pechini type sol−gel (PSG) process.

MCM-41, MCM-48 and related mesoporous adsorbents: their synthesis and characterisation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the properties of disordered silica xerogels with respect to their long range and short range order, their specific surface area, pore structure and pore structural parameters and their surface hydroxyl group concentration.

Synthesis of SiO2/Polystyrene Nanocomposite Particles via Miniemulsion Polymerization

TL;DR: The SiO(2)/polystyrene nanocomposite particles were synthesized through miniemulsion polymerization by using sodium lauryl sulfate surfactant, hexadecane costabilizer in the presence of silica particles coated with methacryloxy(propyl)trimethoxysilane.

Electron Microscopy of Monodisperse Latexes

TL;DR: In this article, a series of monodisperse polystyrene latexes has been prepared by carefully controlled emulsion polymerizations. The particle diameters of three of these latexes were determined by electron microscopy.
