TLDR
In this article, a system of chemical reactions has been developed which permits the controlled growth of spherical silica particles of uniform size by means of hydrolysis of alkyl silicates and subsequent condensation of silicic acid in alcoholic solutions.

Synthesis of hollow NiCo2O4 nanospheres with large specific surface area for asymmetric supercapacitors

TL;DR: Electrochemical measurements show that hollow NiCo2O4 nanosphere electrode is a promising electrode material for the future application in high performance supercapacitors.

Functional assessment of metal oxide nanoparticle toxicity in immune cells.

TL;DR: The varying immune cell response following exposure to nonporous SiO(2) andNonporous TiO( 2) indicates that the nanoparticle-cell interactions are also modulated by surface chemistry.

A NMR technique for the analysis of pore structure: Application to materials with well-defined pore structure

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used NMR spin-lattice relaxation measurements of water contained in porous solids for the determination of pore size distributions, based on the two-fraction, fast-exchange model.

Effects of heat treatment on the aggregation and charging of Stöber-type silica.

TL;DR: This study reports a very different behaviour for Stöber-type silica heated at 800 degrees C, as these particles follow DLVO theory quantitatively, and suspects that the suspension stability of the unheated particles is influenced by the presence of a hairy-layer of polysilicilic acid chains on the surface.

Emerging Techniques for Submicrometer Particle Sizing Applied to Stöber Silica

TL;DR: A comparative study of emerging and established techniques to size submicrometer and nanometer sized particles, evaluating their sizing precision and relative resolution, and demonstrating the variety of physical principles upon which they are based is presented.

Electron Microscopy of Monodisperse Latexes

TL;DR: In this article, a series of monodisperse polystyrene latexes has been prepared by carefully controlled emulsion polymerizations. The particle diameters of three of these latexes were determined by electron microscopy.
