TLDR
A novel strategy for identification of Carnobacterium food isolates based on restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of PCR-amplified 16S-23S ribosomal intergenic spacer regions (ISRs) was developed, which yielded four unique band patterns that correctly resolved these isolates into four Carnobacteria species without sequencing.

Biodiversity and Phylogenetic Relationships of Novel Bacteriocinogenic Strains Isolated from Animal’s Droppings at the Zoological Garden of Lille, France

TL;DR: Droppings of animals living in captivity in the zoological garden (Zoo) of Lille (France), as novel sources of bacteriocinogenic strains are explored, finding 11 strains able producing extracellular protease-sensitive inhibitory compounds and associating the above-mentioned antibacterial activity of proteinaceous nature to possible production of bacterIocins.

The genomic identification of Colombian Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates by RFLP-PCR analysis

TL;DR: The 16S-23S rRNA gene intergenic spacer (ITS) was analysed by RFLP in this study to identify A. baumannii from 139 isolates from four hospitals (identified as A, B, C and D).

Molecular Investigation of Arsenic-Transforming Bacteria

TL;DR: Twenty seven arsenic-transforming bacterial strains were isolated from three different arsenic polluted areas in Bulgaria and it was determined that they belong to the genera: Pseudomonas, Alcaligenes, Azoarcus and Thauera.

Biogeography and Polyphasic Approach of Pseudomonas strains from Agriculture land of Madhya Pradesh

TL;DR: Bacterial species with similar biochemical property having approximately common genetic content exhibit molecular diversity exhibit molecular Diversity to evaluate and compare the new Miniprimer-PCR to the two DNA-based typing techniques and the phenotypic characteristics for the purpose of assessing the diversity of microbial community isolated as collection of fluorescent pseudomonads.

Gapped BLAST and PSI-BLAST: a new generation of protein database search programs.

TL;DR: A new criterion for triggering the extension of word hits, combined with a new heuristic for generating gapped alignments, yields a gapped BLAST program that runs at approximately three times the speed of the original.

Clustal w: improving the sensitivity of progressive multiple sequence alignment through sequence weighting, position-specific gap penalties and weight matrix choice

TL;DR: The sensitivity of the commonly used progressive multiple sequence alignment method has been greatly improved and modifications are incorporated into a new program, CLUSTAL W, which is freely available.

DNA sequencing with chain-terminating inhibitors

TL;DR: A new method for determining nucleotide sequences in DNA is described, which makes use of the 2',3'-dideoxy and arabinon nucleoside analogues of the normal deoxynucleoside triphosphates, which act as specific chain-terminating inhibitors of DNA polymerase.

New approaches to typing and identification of bacteria using the 16S-23S rDNA spacer region

TL;DR: This review will deal with the 16s-23s spacer region of the rRNA operon and its use in the identification of micro-organisms at the species and strain (typing) levels.

Organization of the bacterial chromosome.

TL;DR: A model depicting the dynamics of the evolution and genetic activity of the bacterial chromosome is described which entails acquisition by recombination of clonal segments within the chromosome, consistent with only a few genetic types of E. coli worldwide.
