Efficient active chatter mitigation for boring operation by electromagnetic actuator using optimal fractional order PDλ controller

TLDR
It is observed that a fractional order PDλ controller designed by using combination of pseudo spectral and response optimization techniques is highly efficient in terms of the requirement of low amplitude of the peak force and simplicity of implementation.

A new magnetorheological damper for chatter stability of boring tools

TL;DR: In this paper, a magnetorheological (MR) damper is introduced to increase the stability of the boring process, which significantly increases the chatter free depth of cut on the stability lobe diagrams.

Improving optimal chatter control of slender cutting tool through more accurate tuned mass damper modeling

TL;DR: This paper improves the optimal chatter control through a more accurate modeling method which considers the cutting tool as a cantilever Euler–Bernoulli beam and the TMD as a two degrees of freedom system including translation vibration and rotation vibration of the mass block.

A State-of-the-Art Review on Chatter Stability in Machining Thin−Walled Parts

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors systematically review previous studies on the identification of system dynamic characteristics, modeling and prediction of chatter stability, and chatter elimination/suppression methods and devices and conclude that existing problems are summarized, and future research is concluded.

Feasibility study on machining extra-large aspect ratio aviation deep-hole Ti6Al4V part with axial ultrasonic vibration-assisted boring

TL;DR: In this article, the axial ultrasonic vibration-assisted boring (AUVB) method has been used for aviation deep-hole machining and the results demonstrate that AUVB has obvious advantages in reducing boring force, improving boring accuracy, suppressing vibration and promoting surface quality.

Numerical Simulation and Optimization of Microwave Heating Effect on Coal Seam Permeability Enhancement

TL;DR: In this paper , the most important parameters affecting the electric and thermal fields' distribution in coal were investigated in order to identify the effective parameters that achieve the highest temperature increase rate and to reach the highest impact and efficiency of the system with the least amount of consumed energy.

A study of cutting process stability of a boring bar with active dynamic absorber

TL;DR: In this article, the use of an active dynamic absorber to suppress machine tool chatter in a boring bar is studied, where the vibrations of the system are reduced by moving an absorber mass using an active device such as an piezoelectric actuator, to generate an inertial force that counteracts the disturbance acting on the main system.

Robust Active Chatter Control in the High-Speed Milling Process

TL;DR: A control methodology for the high-speed milling process is developed that alters the chatter stability boundary such that the area of chatter-free operating points is increased and a higher productivity can be attained.

Regenerative chatter reduction by active damping control

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of active damping on regenerative chatter instability for a turning operation was investigated and two approaches are used for this purpose: the traditional stability analysis technique in Altintas [Manufacturing Automation, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 2000] and other works is adopted and a correlation between the chip shape (which is dependent on the spindle speed) and system damping is presented.

Chatter control and stability analysis of a cantilever boring bar under regenerative cutting conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, an active control technique for changing the form of this bifurcation from subcritical to supercritical is presented for a prototypical, single-degree-of-freedom model.

Optimal control of chatter in turning

TL;DR: In this paper, the state feedback control due to an LQI control mode and a state observer is used to estimate difficult to measure entire state variables is implemented by using a bench type lathe where the chatter vibration is stabilized and the tracking error in following desired tool positions should be minimized.
