Dynamic contact response of an elastic sphere on a piezoelectric half-space

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic contact response of a piezoelectric half-space under the action of an insulating elastic spherical punch was studied and the difference between the dynamic and static contact pressures is small at the center of the contact region, while it is large near the edge of contact region.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Study of New Nondispersive SH-SAWs in Magnetoelectroelastic Medium of Symmetry Class 6 mm

TL;DR: In this article, two additional solutions of new shear-horizontal surface acoustic waves (SH-SAWs) are found in a theoretical report, where the SH-SAW propagation is managed by the free surface of a solid when it has a direct contact with a vacuum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterising the beam formation of SH waves using double-row Staggered Halbach EMAT configurations

TL;DR: In this article, a comparison analysis of double-row Halbach EMATs with doublerow PPM EMAT was performed using Finite Element based simulation models for SH0 ultrasonic wave generation.

Energy Trap for Axial-Shear-Wave Resonance in a Stepped Cylindrical Rod: Theory and Measurement

TL;DR: In this paper, the vibrational energy of an axially polarized surface shear wave (axial-shear wave) was trapped in a stepped cylindrical rod. And the displacement was measured along the axial direction and it exponentially decreased with the distance from the center.
Dissertation

Optical Fibre Sensors applied to condition and structural monitoring for the marine and rail transport sectors

TL;DR: Key technical performance challenges were addressed and successfully overcome, including the temperature compensation needed for ‘all-weather’ performance, due to the intrinsic cross-sensitivity problems of using a FBG-based design being been fully addressed.
