Frequency Down-Conversion of 1 µm Laser Radiation to the Mid-IR using Non-Oxide Nonlinear Crystals in Cascaded Intracavity Configurations

TL;DR: In this paper, optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) based on AgGaSe2 and BaGa2GeSe6 were used inside the cavity of an oxide-crystal-based OPO to produce widely-tunable mid-IR radiation in the 4.4−18-µm range.

Intracavity Mid-IR Difference-Frequency Generation in OP-GaAs inside a Nanosecond Optical Parametric Oscillator

TL;DR: In this article, a tunable (8026-8710 nm) mid-IR difference-frequency generation (DFG) in OP-GaAs by intracavity mixing signal and idler of a narrowband nanosecond PPMgLN-OPO was reported.

Tm:CALGO lasers at 2.32 µm: cascade lasing and upconversion pumping.

TL;DR: In this paper , the first laser operation of a disordered Tm:CaGdAlO4 crystal on the 3H4 → 3H5 transition was reported, where the cascade Tm-laser generated a maximum output power of 585mW at 1.77 µm and 2.32 µm with a slope efficiency of 13.9% and 22.5% vs. incident and absorbed pump power.

Nonlinear optics

TL;DR: In this method, non-linear susceptibility tensors are introduced which relate the induced dipole moment to a power series expansion in field strengths and the various experimental observations are described and interpreted in terms of this formalism.

Quasi-phase-matched second harmonic generation: tuning and tolerances

TL;DR: The theory of quasi-phase-matched second-harmonic generation in both the space domain and the wave vector mismatch domain is presented in this paper, where various types of errors in the periodicity of these structures are analyzed to find their effects on the conversion efficiency and on the shape of the tuning curve.
