Mathematical modeling of dynamic behavior of fluid bilayer membranes under the effect of density asymmetry.
TL;DR: A continuum model including elastic energies and dissipation functions is utilized with energy approach to obtain the governing equations of an enclosed lipid bilayer membrane and an interesting metastable state in the adsorption of the final bud due to the increase in the density of the outer monolayer is observed.
Book ChapterDOI
Hierarchically Structured Lipid Systems
TL;DR: Amphiphilic lipids self-assemble into various thermodynamically stable nanostructures in the presence of water, which can be kinetically stabilized into hierarchically ordered lipid systems exhibiting multiple structural length scales as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Symmetric sequence processing in a recurrent neural network model with a synchronous dynamics
Fernando L. Metz,W. K. Theumann +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the synchronous dynamics and the stationary states of a recurrent attractor neural network model with competing synapses between symmetric sequence processing and Hebbian pattern reconstruction are studied allowing for the presence of a selfinteraction for each unit.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of mechanically induced processes in the Langmuir film
Martin Weis,Ján Vajda +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a detailed theoretical study of molecular tilt in a continual lateral compression and dielectric relaxation phenomena (step-compression) is presented, confronted with standard surface pressure analysis and surface potential measurement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apex shift of a circular biconcave vesicle induced by osmotic pressure
TL;DR: The contribution of a small osmotic pressure into the exact circular biconcave solution of the spontaneous curvature model of Helfrich leads to a definite and new theoretical consequence, the radius of the apex of the biconscave shape can shift toward to or apart from the center depending on the increase or decrease of the osmosis pressure.
