Journal ArticleDOI

Intracellular signaling by hydrolysis of phospholipids and activation of protein kinase C

TL;DR: It is becoming clear that agonist-induced hydrolysis of other membrane phospholipids, particularly choline phospholipsids, by phospholIPase D and phospholiptase A2 may also take part in cell signaling.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanisms of carbon tetrachloride toxicity

TL;DR: Le CCl 4 provoque une degenerescence lipidique et une necrose centrolobulaire du foie dans la peroxydation lipidique and les troubles hepatocellulaires de l'homeostase du calcium.
Journal ArticleDOI

How is the level of free arachidonic acid controlled in mammalian cells

R F Irvine
- 15 Apr 1982 -
TL;DR: In order to move forward both conceptually and experimentally it is necessary to take a critical look at the complexities and problems associated with studying arachidonate liberation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Induction of membrane ruffling and fluid-phase pinocytosis in quiescent fibroblasts by ras proteins

TL;DR: The stimulatory effect of the ras oncogene protein on ruffling and pinocytosis is dependent on the amount of injected protein and is accompanied by an apparent stimulation of phospholipase A2 activity, which may represent primary events in the mechanism of action of ras proteins.

Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis as a mechanism of action for aspirin-like drugs

TL;DR: Experiments with guinea-pig lung suggest that some of the therapeutic effects of sodium salicylate and aspirin-like drugs are due to inhibition of the synthesis of prostaglandins.

Lysosomes in biology and pathology

TL;DR: By reading this book as soon as possible, you can renew the situation to get the inspirations and will lead you to always think more and more.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prostaglandins and thromboxanes.

TL;DR: This chapter discusses major advances in prostaglandin chemistry and biological activity and indicates the extent to which research has progressed towards the realization of earlier hopes of the discovery of new therapeutic agents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lipid asymmetry in membranes

TL;DR: Three sections of this chapter describing various approaches to study membrane lipid asymmetry are written by three different groups.
