Effect of dual-spark plug arrangements on ignition and combustion processes of a gasoline rotary engine with hydrogen direct-injection enrichment

TL;DR: In this paper, a three-dimensional dynamic simulation model coupling with the chemical kinetic mechanisms was established using CONVERGE software and validated by the experimental data, and the numerical model was implemented for evaluating the influences of varying duel-spark plug locations on flow field distributions, combustion processes and major emissions formation of a gasoline rotary engine with hydrogen direct injection enrichment.

Numerical simulation on combustion process of a hydrogen direct-injection stratified gasoline Wankel engine by synchronous and asynchronous ignition modes

TL;DR: In this paper, a three-dimensional simulation model of a gasoline Wankel engine with hydrogen direct-injection enrichment was implemented for numerical simulation, and the influence of twin-spark timing was firstly analyzed by synchronous ignition.

Numerical investigations on the effects of turbulence intensity on knocking combustion in a downsized gasoline engine

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of turbulence intensity on the effect of the initial swirl ratio on the combustion process was investigated and the results showed that the enhanced turbulence intensity with increasing initial swirl ratios accelerates the spark-ignited flame (main flame) propagation, resulting in a shortage of combustion phasing and a faster flame speed.

Effect of rapid combustion on engine performance and knocking characteristics under different spark strategy conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, a double-spider system was used for investigating the influence of rapid combustion on engine performance and knocking characteristics, and the results showed that under synchronous double spark ignition condition, output power and effective thermal efficiency are improved because of shortened combustion duration.

A Statistically-Derived Subgrid-Scale Kinetic Energy Model for the Large-Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Flows

TL;DR: In this paper, a subgrid-scale (SGS) kinetic energy model for the large-eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent flows is constructed with the aid of the statistical results obtained from the two-scale direct-interaction approximation.

Multi-Dimensional Modeling of Direct-Injection Diesel Spray Liquid Length and Flame Lift-off Length using CFD and Parallel Detailed Chemistry

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of various ambient and injection parameters on the flame "lift-off" length have been investigated under typical Diesel conditions in a constant-volume combustion vessel using a modified version of the KIVA-3V engine simulation code.

Effect of subgrid models on the computed interscale energy transfer in isotropic turbulence

TL;DR: In this paper, a priori analysis showed that the subgrid stress and the sub-grid energy flux predicted by the scale similarity model, and subgrid kinetic energy model (with fixed coefficients) correlate reasonably well with exact data, while the Smagorinsky's eddy viscosity model showed relatively poor agreement.
