Napin from Brassica juncea: Thermodynamic and structural analysis of stability

TLDR
In silico alignment of sequences of napin has revealed that the internal repeats spanning residues 31 to 60 and 73 to 109 are conserved in all Brassica species, which may contribute to the greater stability of nap in nature.

Proteins of Brassicaceae Oilseeds and their Potential as a Plant Protein Source

TL;DR: What is known about the predominant storage proteins of commercially produced Brassicaceae seeds relative to the chemistry, nutritional value, as well as the functionality in foods, and associated non-protein components of canola/rapeseed storage proteins is critically reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural and functional stabilization of protein entities: state-of-the-art.

TL;DR: Modification of the microenvironment of the biomolecule via multipoint covalent attachment onto a solid surface followed by hydrophilic polymer co-immobilization, or physical containment within nanocarriers, are some of the (latest) strategies discussed aiming at full structural and functional stabilization of said biomolecules.

Structural Properties of Cruciferin and Napin of Brassica napus (Canola) Show Distinct Responses to Changes in pH and Temperature

TL;DR: These two storage proteins of B. napus have distinct molecular characteristics, therefore properties and functionalities they provide are contrasting rather than complementary.
Journal ArticleDOI

Therapeutic potentials of Brassica juncea : an overview

TL;DR: Some possibilities for designing and developing phytopharmaceuticals from the Brassica juncea plant for combating the rapidly spreading obesity epidemic in the developed countries and some other countries are pointed out.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective extraction, structural characterisation and antifungal activity assessment of napins from an industrial rapeseed meal.

TL;DR: This article reports an extraction-purification of napins from an industrial rapeseed meal and the assessment of their antimicrobial activity against Fusarium langsethiae, finding significant anti-Fusarium activity and a compact secondary structure rich in α-helix.

Cleavage of structural proteins during the assemble of the head of bacterio-phage T4

U. K. Laemmli
- 01 Jan 1970 -
TL;DR: Using an improved method of gel electrophoresis, many hitherto unknown proteins have been found in bacteriophage T4 and some of these have been identified with specific gene products as mentioned in this paper.

Denaturant m values and heat capacity changes: relation to changes in accessible surface areas of protein unfolding.

TL;DR: Denaturant m values, the dependence of the free energy of unfolding on denaturant concentration, have been collected for a large set of proteins and correlate very strongly with the amount of protein surface exposed to solvent upon unfolding.

Calculation of protein conformation from circular dichroism.

TL;DR: This chapter discusses some recent developments in the estimation of various conformations in a protein molecule from its circular dichroism (CD) spectrum in the ultraviolet region.
