Asynchronous iterations with flexible communication: contracting operators
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors give a global convergence result for asynchronous iterations with flexible communication whereby the iteration operators satisfy certain contraction hypotheses, and extend to a contraction context previous results obtained for monotone operators with respect to a partial ordering.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stochastic Dynamic Programming Applied to Hydrothermal Power Systems Operation Planning Based on the Convex Hull Algorithm
Bruno Henriques Dias,André L. M. Marcato,Reinaldo Castro Souza,Murilo P. Soares,Ivo Chaves da Silva Junior,Edimar J. de Oliveira,Rafael B. S. Brandi,Tales Pulinho Ramos +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new approach for the expected cost-to-go functions modeling used in the stochastic dynamic programming (SDP) algorithm is presented, which is applied to the long-term operation planning of electrical power systems.

Benefits from GIS Based Modelling for Municipal Solid Waste Management
Christos Chalkias,Katia Lasaridi +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the waste management issues are coming to the forefront of the global environmental agenda at an increasing frequency, as population and consumption growth result in an increasing quantities of waste.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exact approaches to the single‐source network loading problem
TL;DR: The results show that the branch‐and‐cut approach outperforms the best performing compact formulation leading to the best exact algorithm today for solving the considered dataset.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct evaluation of double singular integrals and new free terms in 2D (symmetric) Galerkin BEM
Marc Bonnet,Massimo Guiggiani +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new general algorithm is developed for the direct evaluation of all singular double integrals arising in the 2D Galerkin BEM, including those with hypersingular kernels.
