TLDR
Models are proposed that show how organizations can be designed to meet the information needs of technology, interdepartmental relations, and the environment to both reduce uncertainty and resolve equivocality.Abstract:
This paper answers the question, "Why do organizations process information?" Uncertainty and equivocality are defined as two forces that influence information processing in organizations. Organization structure and internal systems determine both the amount and richness of information provided to managers. Models are proposed that show how organizations can be designed to meet the information needs of technology, interdepartmental relations, and the environment. One implication for managers is that a major problem is lack of clarity, not lack of data. The models indicate how organizations can be designed to provide information mechanisms to both reduce uncertainty and resolve equivocality.read more

Does Twitter Matter? The Impact of Microblogging Word of Mouth on Consumers’ Adoption of New Movies
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide an empirical test of the Twitter effect, which postulates that micro bloggingging word of mouth (MWOM) shared through Twitter and similar services affects early product adoption behaviors by immediately disseminating consumers' post-purchase quality evaluations.

A model for evaluating the effectiveness of remote engineering laboratories and simulations in education
TL;DR: A model for testing the relative effectiveness of engineering laboratories in education that takes account of the interface to the equipment, the discussions students have among themselves, and other factors is presented.

Exploratory Innovation, Exploitative Innovation, and Ambidexterity: The Impact of Environmental and Organizational Antecedents
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore how multiunit firms might develop ambidextrous organizational units in response to environmental demands and examine how environmental and organizational antecedents affect a unit's level of organizational ambidexterity.

Managing supplier involvement in new product development: a portfolio approach
TL;DR: In this paper, a Supplier Involvement Portfolio is introduced to distinguish four types of supplier involvement in new product development projects and suitable supplier-manufacturer interfaces are defined in terms of the direction of information flow, the communication media used, the amount of communication, the topics discussed and the functions involved.

Patterns in the Diffusion of Strategies Across Organizations: Insights from the Innovation Diffusion Literature
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the conditions prompting the spread of inefficient strategies through a population of firms, as well as the characteristics of individual firms that affect their propensity to adopt efficient and inefficient strategies.

The External Control of Organizations: A Resource Dependence Perspective
TL;DR: The External Control of Organizations as discussed by the authors explores how external constraints affect organizations and provides insights for designing and managing organizations to mitigate these constraints, and it is the fact of the organization's dependence on the environment that makes the external constraint and control of organizational behavior both possible and almost inevitable.

A Behavioral Theory of the Firm
Richard M. Cyert,James G. March +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an overview of basic concepts in the Behavioral Theory of the Firm, and present a specific price and output model for a specific type of products. But they do not discuss the relationship between the two concepts.
