Journal ArticleDOI
The emergence of sulfoxides as efficient ligands in transition metal catalysis.
TL;DR: New developments that are showing very promising results and that have led to a renewed interest in this field of sulfoxides are covered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis, Characterization, Absorption Spectra, and Luminescence Properties of Organometallic Platinum(II) Terpyridine Complexes
Giuseppe Arena,Giuseppe Calogero,Sebastiano Campagna,Luigi Monsù Scolaro,and Vittorio Ricevuto,Raffaello Romeo +5 more
TL;DR: A series of new organometallic platinum(II) complexes containing terdentate polypyridine ligands has been prepared and characterized and NMR data evidence that all the complexes but 3 and 6 oligomerize in solution leading to stacked species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel antitrypanosomal agents based on palladium nitrofurylthiosemicarbazone complexes: DNA and redox metabolism as potential therapeutic targets.
Lucía Otero,Marisol Vieites,Lucía Boiani,Ana Denicola,Carolina Rigol,Lucía Opazo,Claudio Olea-Azar,Juan Diego Maya,Antonio Morello,R Luise Krauth-Siegel,Oscar E. Piro,Eduardo E. Castellano,Mercedes González,Dinorah Gambino,Hugo Cerecetto +14 more
TL;DR: Although the complexes showed strong DNA binding, all data strongly suggest that the main trypanocidal mechanism of action is the production of oxidative stress as a result of their bioreduction and extensive redox cycling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and activity relationships of platinum complexes with anti-tumour activity.
TL;DR: A number of complexes of platinum(II) and platinum(IV) have been prepared, characterised and tested for their ability to cause regression of a mouse plasma cell tumour.
Journal ArticleDOI
Luminescent PtII(bipyridyl)(diacetylide) Chromophores with Pendant Binding Sites as Energy Donors for Sensitised Near-Infrared Emission from Lanthanides: Structures and Photophysics of PtII/LnIII Assemblies
Tanya K. Ronson,Theodore Lazarides,Harry Adams,Simon J. A. Pope,Dan Sykes,Stephen Faulkner,Simon J. Coles,Michael B. Hursthouse,William Clegg,William Clegg,Ross W. Harrington,Ross W. Harrington,Michael D. Ward +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of 3MMLCT luminescence from the PtII/LnIII units in polynuclear assemblies is investigated. But the effect depends on how effective each LnIII ion is at acting as an energy acceptor, with YbIII usually providing the least quenching and either NdIII or ErIII providing the most (fastest Pt→Ln energy transfer).
