Sports- and Recreation-Related Concussions in US Youth
TL;DR: This study provides the most accurate and precise estimate to date of the number of concussions among US children annually, and suggests providers in all health care settings need to be trained in concussion care.

Emily Kroshus,Emily Kroshus,Bernice Raveche Garnett,Matt Hawrilenko,Christine M. Baugh,Christine M. Baugh,Jerel P. Calzo,Jerel P. Calzo +7 more
TL;DR: The present study quantifies the pressure that athletes experience to continue playing after a head impact--from coaches, teammates, parents, and fans--and assesses how this pressure, both independently and as a system, is related to future concussion reporting intention.

Using thematic analysis in psychology
Virginia Braun,Victoria Clarke +1 more
TL;DR: Thematic analysis is a poorly demarcated, rarely acknowledged, yet widely used qualitative analytic method within psychology as mentioned in this paper, and it offers an accessible and theoretically flexible approach to analysing qualitative data.

The theory of planned behavior
TL;DR: Ajzen, 1985, 1987, this article reviewed the theory of planned behavior and some unresolved issues and concluded that the theory is well supported by empirical evidence and that intention to perform behaviors of different kinds can be predicted with high accuracy from attitudes toward the behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control; and these intentions, together with perceptions of behavioral control, account for considerable variance in actual behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unreported concussion in high school football players: implications for prevention.
TL;DR: These findings reflect a higher prevalence of concussion in high school football players than previously reported in the literature and future prevention initiatives should focus on education to improve athlete awareness of the signs of concussion and potential risks of unreported injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epidemiology of Concussions Among United States High School Athletes in 20 Sports
TL;DR: Although interest in sports-related concussions is usually focused on full-contact sports like football and ice hockey, concussions occur across a wide variety of high school sports and rates vary by sport, gender, and type of exposure.
